DISCUSS HOW THE WRITING OF HISTORY WAS AFFECTED BY THE

DOMINANT PERSPECTIVE OF A PERIOD.
- In my opinion, this indicates that history is "written by the winners" and that the
dominant civilization at any given moment is the only one capable of doing so. Of
course, there are other ways to record history. The least dominant can still write history,
but that is no longer the case. When a civilization exists, perspective does too. A
multitude of factors, including sources, had an impact. Paintings, pictures, texts,
carvings, and audio recordings are used to preserve the past, but not all of these
sources include all points of view. Finding a source with the most persuasive argument
as opposed to the weakest will be more common. These sources frequently divulge or
explain either position, usually the one that is in power.
2. EXPLAIN WHY DESPITE COLONIALHISTORIOGRAPHY'S HOSTILITY TO THE
FILIPINOS, THEY ARE STILL CONSIDERED IMPORTANT TO MODERN DAY
HISTORIANS.
- Since the idea or main component of past historiography still exists, it is up to
historians to interpret the idea of past historiography in their own interpretations.
3. IN RIZAL'S "THE PHILIPPINES A CENTURY HENCE, " HE DISCUSSED THE
PAST, PRESENT AND FUTUREOF THE PHILIPPINES.
(CITE THE THREE PREDICTIONS PRESENTED BY RIZAL IN HIS ESSAY AND
PROVE THAT THEY CAME TRUE)

One is that "the Philippines will one day declare herself independent". Two is that "the
great American Republic with interests in the Pacific...may one day think of acquiring
possessions beyond the seas". Three is that "the Philippines will defend with
indescribable ardour the liberty she bought at the cost of so much blood and sacrifice".
Four is that "Japan will swallow us". Five is that "[once liberated] the Philippines will,
perhaps, establish a federal republic". Six is that possibly take a bold step forward and
collaborate to build the Mother Country both at home and abroad. Not everyone is
aware that national hero Jose Rizal was a visionary who thought ahead of his time,
especially Filipinos. The socio-political essay "Filipinas dentro de cien aos" which Rizal
authored in a series of pieces for "La Solidaridad," examines the prospects for the
Filipino nation under Spanish control. He constantly believed in the creation of the
Filipino spirit of a nation, even though he continued to think the Philippines shouldn't
break away from mother Spain. He was influenced by the French Revolution, which
occurred a century previously, and had always imagined that the Philippines would be
immediately affected by the spread of libertarian ideas. His essay has been seen as a
demand for reform or independence from Spain. He essentially listed the reasons for
the suffering and social injustice brought on by Spanish colonial authority in the
Philippines.

4. MARCELO H. DEL PILAR'S "DASALAN AT TOKSOHAN" IS A SATIRE OF THE

FRIARS IN THE PHILIPPINES DURING THE SPANISH PERIOD. EXPLAIN WHY DEL
PILAR RESORTED TO THIS KIND OF TIRADE AGAINST THE FRIARS.
- The friars successfully agitated and accused Del Pilar of being anti-Spanish when he
published a series of crude articles regarding the Governor-General of the Philippines
and the Queen-Regent of Spain. He was also accused of serving as a counselor to anti-
Islamic forces in the nation, which was not far from the reality.
