PCA-Politcal Frame Worksheet
Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the political frame
2. Apply the political frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

In this assignment, I will focus on discussing my current employer, a telecommunications

company that holds the top rank as the nation's foremost Authorized Retailer and is in a
continuous phase of expansion. For the purpose of this assignment, I will refer to this
organization as ABC Communications. The central mission of ABC Communications is
encapsulated by the phrase, "We are committed to fostering an environment that
recognizes and rewards creativity, leadership, and teamwork. Our aspiration is for
individuals and stores to tangibly experience the rewards of their accomplishments." This
company diligently dedicates itself to furnishing the community with unparalleled
customer service and endeavors to provide a work milieu that is both enriching and
empowering for its workforce.

Internally, I channel my contributions to the company through active engagement within

the Human Resources department. Having chosen Human Resources as my professional
trajectory, I've achieved notable success within this domain. With a tenure spanning five
years at ABC Communications, I take pride in witnessing the remarkable expansion of
the company and having played a role in this advancement. My active involvement yields
cost savings for the company and minimizes legal vulnerabilities, as I collaborate closely

with field leaders to safeguard both the company and themselves against potential legal
entanglements.

2) Describe how the politics of the organization influenced the situation.

The organization's political dynamics influenced the situation, leading the Store Manager
to believe he held a dominant position over the Store Representative because of his status
and his relationship with the District Manager. The corporate culture fosters a mindset
among managers wherein they perceive themselves as superior to their employees, even
though the reality is that they rely on each employee's contribution for the business to
operate smoothly and successfully. The passage effectively highlights the importance of
leaders being well-rounded individuals with the ability to think and empathize, as
emphasized by Bolman and Deal in 2021: "To be effective in rallying and uplifting their
constituencies, leaders must possess a holistic capacity for both rational thinking and
emotional understanding."

3) Recommend how you would use organizational politics for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

To influence the situation, I would employ alternative approaches, such as addressing the
top-down control barriers. In my industry, it's crucial that changes originate from the
upper echelons because employees need tangible examples to follow rather than just
receiving instructions on how to behave or perform. Given the fast-paced nature of the
business, multitasking is essential, demanding meticulous employees and the
implementation of initiatives that can have a positive impact on the company.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

In my role as a Human Resources professional, I will persist in upholding the company's

image and strive to establish the benchmark for the desired culture and transformation
within the organization. I firmly believe in the significance of ongoing training and
providing effective leadership to guide the team in the right direction.
