SUSPENDED CEILING ( EXPOSED GRIDS SYSTEM )

1. SCOPE

1.1 To supply, deliver and install suspended ceiling of exposed grids system of 600mm x
600mm x 19mm thick non-combustible suspended acoustical mineral panels with
necessary accessories as per contract documents, required specifications and quality
assurance.
1.2 To submit required shop drawings, samples, manufacturer’s literature and
certifications.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 RESPONSIBILITIES OF MAIN CONTRACTOR

2.1.1 To ensure that the work area is to be free of debris and puddles of water in which will
affect the installation progress and/or damaged the materials that is been installed.
2.1.2 To provide sufficient lighting and electrical power supply is provided for the setting
out and installation work.
2.1.3 To ensure that the site storage space given to the contractor is sufficient for proper
storage of materials without hindering the work of other trades and/or obstructing any
fire escape.
2.1.4 To ensure that the site storage space given to the contractor is free puddles of water in
which will affect the damaged the materials stored.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 RESPONSIBILITIES OF MAIN CONTRACTOR

2.1.5 To ensure that the approved construction drawings issued to the contractor for the
setting out and installation of the of the suspended ceiling girds system is up-to-date.
2.1.6 To provided datum level on site for setting out and installation of the suspended
ceiling grids system.
2.1.7 To ensure that all first fix works of M&E & other trades found above the ceiling is
completed & inspected before commencement of installation of suspended ceiling
grids system.
2.1.8 To advise and update any changes ( in advance before actual installation ) of the
positions / locations of all second fix works of M&E and/or other trades so that the
contactor can take precautions to ensure that the ceiling metal grids installed will be
based on the actual positions / locations of second fix works.

2.2 RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTRACTOR

2.2.1 The contractor is to inspect the work area before the commencement of setting out to
ensure that the site conditions are met.
2.2.2 The contractor is to deliver and store the materials in the correct site storage space
given by the main contractor and must also check if the space given is sufficient and
does not hinder the work of other trades and/or obstruct any fire escape.
2.2.3 The contractor is to use the approved construction drawings for setting out and
installation of the suspended ceiling girds system.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

2.2 RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTRACTOR

2.2.4 The contractor is to check with the main contractor for the positions / locations of all
second fix works of M&E and/or other trades so that precautions will be taken to
ensure that the ceiling metal grids installed matches the actual positions / locations of
second fix works.
2.2.5 The contractor is to check that the work done complies with the contract’s
specifications requirement.

3. WORK METHOD

3.1 PREPARATION

3.1.1 Prior to the commencement of installation, the contractor shall inspect the work area
in which the suspended ceiling girds system will be installed and to check the site is
ready for installation.
3.1.2 The contractor shall arrange the materials to be deliver to the work area for
installation with approval from the main contractor and shall ensure the materials
stored will not hinder the work of other trades.

3. WORK METHOD

3.2 SETTING OUT

3.2.1 The contractor shall commence the setting out of the work area by marking on site,
the ceiling level ( height ) lines based on datum level provided by the main contractor.
3.2.2 To seek approval from the main contractor for the setting out done.
3.2.3 To seek advise from the main contractor if ceiling grids positions matches with the
M&E 2nd fix works.

3.3 INSTALLATION

Upon approval of setting out, the contractor shall commence the installation work in
following sequence.

STEP 1
a. Install the shadow wall angle onto concrete wall using powerdrive pin and/or onto
partition using standard black partition screws.
b. Install the angle fixing brackets onto concrete slab using powerdrive pin
c. Attach hanger suspension rod with attached adjustable frameclip.
d. Adjust hanger suspension rod at 1200mm centers in each direction.
c. Attach main tees to hanger suspension rod’s bottom hook and ensuring the hook is
firmly threaded through the top of main tees.
d. Adjust the hanger suspension rod using the attached adjustable frameclip, to set
the height of main tees to an level line between the wall and shadow wall angle.
e. Insert cross tee intersecting main tees at 600mm centres.

3. WORK METHOD

3.3 INSTALLATION

3.3.1 Upon installation of 2nd fix works by M&E contractors and/or other trades, the
contractor shall commence the installation work in the following sequence.

STEP 2
a. Check all fitting components done during STEP 1 for tightness and safety.
f. Insert 600 x 600 x 19mm thick beveled tegular acoustic ceiling boards.

6.1 AFB4 Angle Fixing Bracket


6.2 4mm thick Hanger Suspension Rod
6.3 FRC A4 Adjustable Frameclip
6.4 FAW 1914 Shadow Wall Angle ( White )
6.5 Main Tee ( White )
6.6 Cross Tee ( White )
6.7 600mm x 600mm x 19mm thick Beveled Tegular Acoustic Ceiling Board.
( Type and Brand of Ceiling Board subjected to Architect’s selection ).

Above item is supplied by Framework Building Products Pte Ltd.

8. PROGRAMME

8.1 Refer to main contractor programmed of schedule – reversion 4.


( Yet to issue to the contractor ).

9. PROJECT MATERIAL PLAN

9.1 Material used must be store, applied and remain in dry conditions for maximum
designed performance.
9.2 Prior to installation, materials must be kept clean and dry and below 49/c.
9.3 There shall be proper ventilation in high moisture area and all plastering, concrete
and/or wet work should be complete and dry.
9.4 Dust and loose dirt may be removed by brushing or with vaccum cleaner ( Used with
attachments such as those designed for cleaning of upholstery and wall). Be certain to
clean in one direction only.
9.5 To ensure maximum designed performance, before starting the ACMV system, make
sure supply air is properly filtered and the building interior is free of construction
dust.

10. PROJECT SAFTEY PROGRAMME

10.1 The contractor is to ensure that their installers are issued with necessary PPE to able
them to work safely during the cause of the product.
10.2 The contractor is to ensure that frequent safely check and tool-box talk is carried out
during the course of the project.

11. RESPONSE PROGRAMME

11.1 As most types of mineral ceiling boards chosen for selection for this project is often
not of ex-stock due to market demand. If there is events whereas the boards are found
to be damage and required replacements, the contractor shall be able to response
based upon the availability of the delivery of replacement stock which is normally
between 8 to 10 weeks. As for the other components and its accessories of the
exposed grid suspension system, which is normally available in the market ( Ex-
stock ), the contractor shall be able to response within 7 working days from
notification.
