1.0 Position Summary

1.1 Position: Specialist Education 1.2 Department/Project: Securing the Continuity of Education in Pakistan
2022 Floods through Bringing Children Back to Schools in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab
1.3 Category/Grade: Professional-1 1.4 Duty Station: Islamabad with frequent travel to target districts under
the project
1.5 Reporting to: Project Manager, RSPN

2.0 Job Responsibilities

i. Provide technical guidance and operational support to implementing RSPs in application and
understanding of provincial education policies, strategies, processes and best practices and
approaches on education and related issues to support the programme management,
implementation and delivery of results;
ii. Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, periodic programme reviews with the
government and other counterparts to assess progress and to determine required action/
interventions to achieve results;
iii. Prepare, design and update the rapid situation analysis of target educational facilities and align
results from the exercise with proposed project interventions;
iv. Provide technical and operational support to Project Manager throughout all stages of project
implementation;
v. Organise and implement capacity building initiatives with an aim to achieve the sustainable results
on education;
vi. Work closely and collaboratively with the donor agency, RSPN and RSP colleagues to discuss
progress and lessons from implementation of programme interventions, and determine strategic
priorities to ensure the achievement of sustainable results;
vii. Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with relevant national and provincial
stakeholders, donors, and academia through active networking, advocacy and effective
communication to build capacity, exchange knowledge/expertise and to reinforce cooperation to
achieve sustainable and broad results on project;
viii. Support the Project Manager in setting priorities, developing strategies, design and implement
plans.
ix. Participate in strategic programme discussion on the programme planning and performance
review;
x. Draft policy papers, briefs and other strategic programme materials for management use;
xi. Prepare regular and mandated programme reports for management, donors and partners to keep
them informed of programme progress;
xii. Perform any other official assignment given by the Supervisor or RSPN Management.
3.0 Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills

3.1 Education: Masters or equivalent degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies or relevant
discipline from a recognised university.
3.2 Experience:
- Minimum of five years relevant experience;
- Experience of working in emergencies and/or vulnerable regions of Pakistan will be preferred;
3.3 Skills:
- Knowledge of programme planning and management, research in education;
- Knowledge/Experience of working in a humanitarian setting for promoting/implementing education
related projects;
- Report writing skills;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu. Understanding of Pushto and
local languages of Southern Punjab will be an advantage;
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
