Numbers

Using predetermined criteria to identify students that would benefit from studying Level 3 Core
maths we identified 37 students out of the 51 taking Psychology alone, 70%. With the current
number of applications for Psychology over 90, the potential students for Core maths will already
surpass one group. This is before we include potential students from Biology and Chemistry as well
as Business and Economics. There are clearly a great number of students that could benefit from the
course!

In addition, for additional student studying a level 3 maths qualification the college will receive £600:

16-19 The Advanced Maths Premium

The advanced maths premium is funding for additional students studying specified level 3 maths
qualifications. The premium is paid at a rate of £600 per year per additional student for one or 2
years, depending on the type and size of qualification studied.

We currently have 65 students studying a L3 Maths qualification:

Year 1: A Level Maths: 21

A Level Further Maths: 10

Year 2: A Level Maths: 29

A Level Further Maths: 5

Total: 65

We also have 75 applications to study L3 maths with us in September.

Applications: A Level Maths: 61

A Level Further Maths: 14

Assuming all second-year students do not return and only 70% of applications are converted into
enrolments we will have a net increase of 22 students and so will receive a premium of £13,200.

If we were to run two groups of Core maths each with 25 students as well as these courses, we
would receive a total premium of £43,200.

Support

With many current year 11 students not having been in school since the end of March it will be
important for us to be able to offer support and consolidation such as this additional maths program.
