Hello kid! Thank you for giving your time to sit and study this
Self-Instructional Material (SIM). Today, you will learn about
adverbs of time, place and manner. Then later on, you are expected
to compose clear and coherent sentences using appropriate
adverbs.

Before, you learned that adverb is a part of speech that describes a

verb, an adjective and another adverb in a sentence. Below are
examples of sentences with adverbs. Please read.

It is very important to know well about adverbs to be able to help explain
what the verb is doing. This also helps your family and friends picture
how something was done. There are different kinds of adverb and one
of them is the adverb of time. Here are examples of sentences having
adverbs of time.

1. Mother will teach Martha how to cook tomorrow.

• Tomorrow is an adverb of time.
• It answers the question when Mother will teach Martha how to
cook.
• It is written at the end of the sentence.

2
Another kind of adverb is the adverb of place. It will be more
interesting because it will tell you where an action happens. Please read
below.
Hello! I’m Emma.
I have a pet dog. His name is Bibo. We love to
play outside the house. We go inside when it
is raining. During meal time, he eats under
the table. Every night, he sleeps over the
couch. During sunny days, we stroll
everywhere in the park which is nearby the
house.

nearby the house.

park located.
• They both are written after the verb stroll and verb be is.

To engage more about writing sentences using adverbs, you are going
to learn about adverbs of manner. It will tell you how an action or
something happens. See each picture and read the sentence that tells
something about it.

It is written after the main verb sings.

Adverbs of manner tell how an action or something is done. It always

answers the question how an action or something is done. The suffix –
ly is added to the end of an adjective to form adverbs. However, not all
adverbs of manner end in –ly like well, fast, hard, little, much, and
