37 people were reportedly found dead while others were trapped on in a multi-story building that

collapsed at Lagos Street in Garki Abuja.

An eyewitness who was at the scene confirmed that the building housed many apartments, while the
ground floor was full of shops, adding that the building collapsed during the downpour in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, officials of emergency agencies were yet to arrive at the scene of the
incident.

7,000 Europeans migrating to Europe are stranded in the Republic of Niger after members of the
presidential guard overthrew the country’s democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum and
subsequently closed the borders of the country.

Newcruse reported that the united Nations officials estimated that about 1,800 migrants are living on
Niger’s streets because centres run by the International Organisation for Migration were too crowded to
take in more and the centers hold about 5,000 people trying to get home.

According to the acting interim chief of mission for the agency in Niger, Paola Pace, the UN agency has
been assisting approximately 1,250 people a month to return to their countries this year, but the closure
of borders and airspace has forced it to temporarily suspend returns, and its centres are now jammed at
14 percent over capacity.
