Animal rights is an issue that has become very important today.

In Ecuador, laws and

campaigns have been implemented to protect animals, but it continues to be a subject of much
controversy due to how poorly executed it is.

Currently most people have pets, as they consider them an important part of their lives and
families. Although not many respect their rights, many people do not consider that they also
feel and have needs. On the other hand, farm animals are subject to both psychological and
physical abuse. They are bred to produce in industries such as textiles, food, pharmaceuticals,
among others. People often believe that both farm and companion animals do not require
special care, but there is a big difference between the treatment of farm animals and
companion animals.

On the other hand, we have the most negative areas in which the country must improve
respect for animals:
The hunting of animals must be completely punished and avoided.
Stop using animals as a means of tourism in the country unless their habitat is respected.
Avoid deforestation.
The illegal trade in animals.
Support more ecological reserves and parks.

As a last point, I would like to offer a proposal to avoid disrespect for animals and their
rights. As I mentioned before, there are several alternatives to respect and conserve animals.
In addition, the people need to work hand in hand with the government, and the laws are
tougher for people who commit crimes against animals. Disseminate more information about
the needs and care of animals, both in rural and urban areas.

In conclusion, Ecuador is a country with many shortcomings regarding animals, but progress
can always be made with the necessary help and predisposition.
