Introductory Paragraph
 Are there 3 – 5 sentences?
 Does the hook / background information catch your attention?
 Is the thesis statement clear?
 Does the predictor clearly show what the 3 body paragraphs will be?

Body Paragraphs
 Is there a clear topic sentence?
 Are there two main points? ==For each paragraph
 Is each main point introduced, cited, and explained?
 Do the connectors to make it logical and clear?
 Is there a good variety of vocabulary and structures?

Concluding Paragraph
 Are there about 5 sentences?
 Is the thesis stated differently from the introduction?
 Are there 3 summary sentences (one for each body paragraph?)
 Does each summary sentence include both main ideas?
 Is there a concluding thought? (PORQ)

Complete Essay
 Is there a title?
 Is there a References section?
 Did you run spell check before submitting?
