Performance Task : "Mathematical Art: Sequences in Patterns"

Task Overview: In this task, you will create a visually appealing artwork that showcases the beauty of arithmetic and
geometric sequences. You will design and produce an art piece that is based on these mathematical sequences. You will
create a piece of visual art using arithmetic and geometric sequence and use your understanding of these sequences to
design an artwork with a creative and aesthetic output.

Choose a Concept/Theme

 You will going to select a theme for your art work. For example, themes could include "City Skylines,"
"Underwater World," "Cosmic Patterns," or any theme of your choice. This could also be anything from a natural
theme like flowers or waves to a more abstract concept like symmetry or fractals.

Decide on the Type of Sequence

 Depending on your chosen theme or concept, decide whether to use an arithmetic or geometric sequence to
create your artwork. Explain why you chose the specific type of sequence.

Design Art Piece

 In the chosen theme, you will design your art piece, such as paintings, drawings, pop up art, 3D visual
representation, or digital art or anything that interest you that incorporate arithmetic or geometric sequences.
You should plan how the sequence will be visually represented in the piece.

Materials

 Assign group members necessary material needed for your chosen artwork. This could include colored paper,
markers, scissors, glue, and any other craft supplies that might be needed.

Create Artwork

 Using pencils, markers, paint, or digital design tools, you will create the artwork based on your designs. For
instance, if you choose an arithmetic sequence, you might create a series of buildings with heights following the
arithmetic progression and can be pattern of trees where the height of each tree increases by a fixed amount. If
you opt for a geometric sequence, you could design a sequence of stars or shells with sizes following a
geometric progression.

Explain the Artistic Choices

 In a brief written explanation or artist's statement, you should describe their artistic choices, including why they
chose a particular theme and how they applied arithmetic and geometric sequences to create their artwork.
Requirements:

- An artwork representing an arithmetic and/ or geometric sequence (1/4 illustration Board).

- A brief written explanation or artist’s statement.

Criteria:

 Creatively apply arithmetic and/or geometric sequence in the artwork 40 %

 Clearly explain their artistic choices and the mathematical sequences used. 30 %
 Aesthetic Appeal 30 %
