Roles of Technology for Teaching and Learning

Go back to your learning experiences in school. Recall specific ways by which

the use of educational technology helped you learn.
The things that I recall from my past learning experiences in school is when I
was in Junior High School, in our subject ICT wherein we are tasked to make
creative PowerPoint presentations as part of our activity that we will use in class
discussion and for future purposes. Times passed by, it helps me a lot with the use
of technology as a tool in order to have a presentable presentations which is
applicable to us, future educators.

Write a short paragraph on how helpful technology is in your life as a learner.

With the use of technology, it helps me a lot in any aspects as a learner.
Technology serves as a medium in representing what the learner knows and what
he/she is learning. It makes the learner gather, think, analyze, synthesize information
and construct meaning with that technology presents. I, myself, all I can say is that
the power of technology helped me a lot in different aspects and makes it easier to
learn new things, in my studies, just by browsing with the use of internet and how it
improved my knowledge as a learner.

What are the roles that technology plays in the work of a teacher?
The roles that technology plays in the work of a teacher are classified into
seven as an instrument for teaching. They are to provide essential support to
teachers, modernizes the teaching-learning environment, enhances teaching-
learning methods and strategies in teaching, opens opportunities for educational
research, improves the capability of teachers and inculcates scientific attitude,
serves as an avenue for teacher professional development and encourages scientific
attitude. It enhances teacher-student relationship which helps teachers create an
environment where learning is not only the goal but to have a fun and interesting
outcome of the discussion.
What are the roles that technology plays in the learning of students?
The roles that technology plays in the learning of students are classified in
three categories that also makes learning easier and more effective, use these tools
for learning for life. They are to supports learners on learning how to learn on their
own, develops the communication skills of learners through social interactions, and
augments learners higher-order- thinking skills: critical thinking, problem solving and
creativity. This means that it provides students with deeper knowledge, easy access
of information and communication skills which may build into strong connections and
relationship with individuals. It enables students to achieve self-understanding,
improving skills, specifically in mathematical skills that may help a lot in the learning
of us, students and as math majors.

Many college students are presently required to take computer courses

including word processing, spreadsheet preparation, presentation techniques,
etc. How do you think this will help the application of skills in teaching?
By using this application of skills in teaching, it helps a lot most especially to
us, future educators as it allows us to have a presentable and organize presentations
and is easier for us to use when there’s shortcomings. I will be able to teach students
in the future by using these application that will be the main process of my teaching.
Also, it’s not time consuming compared to written presentations and make it more
productive with the use of technology and these applications in teaching strategy.

How can learners benefit most in the use of technology?

Technology can be a powerful tool for learners when used strategically and
with a clear educational purpose in mind. It provides easy access to a vast amount of
information and help learners acquire new skills and knowledge in a rapidly changing
world. It also makes learning fun and interactive with the use of technology by
presenting ideas or information that engages everyone and also with the use of
mobile phones like we used to for watching videos related to learning. Also, students
can access a huge variety of learning materials on the internet. Technology makes
teaching easier and more productive, the student-teacher relationship that will foster
interactions between students, ensures sustainable learning, save up costs on
different learning resources like books, notebooks, and so on. Lastly, the intervention
of technology in education enabled the children to learn at their own pace.
