FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

First Candle: Hope (Color: purple)

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Leader: God our Father, during this first week of Advent, we ask You
to fill our hearts with hope as we journey toward the birth of
Your Son.
All: Come, Lord Jesus.
Class President lights the first purple advent candle.

Leader: Lord, we confess that we do not always accept Your

invitation to true happiness. Often we fill our hearts with
distractions and lesser things. By Your gift of hope, help us
to desire You above all else, and fully trust Your promises.
All: Come, Lord Jesus.
Leader: We place our trust in You, relying not on our own strength,
but on the help and grace of the Holy Spirit. Let Your gift of
hope enlighten our hearts, minds, actions, and deepest
desires. Let us hope in You, seeking only You as our true
source of happiness.
All: Fill our hearts with hope! Amen.

 SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT
Second Candle: Peace
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Leader: Come Holy Spirit! In this second week of Advent, we ask You
to fill our hearts with peace as we prepare for Christ’s
coming.
All: Come, Lord Jesus.
Class Beadle lights the first and second purple advent candles.
Leader: Lord, we ask to receive the peace of Your Holy Spirit
throughout this week and especially right now as we pray
together as a family. Help us to be peacemakers, sharing
Your peace within our home and beyond.
All: Come, Lord Jesus.
Leader: Help us make room in our hearts; help us clear out all that is
not from You, so that the Holy Spirit might fill us with the
fruits of eternal life and happiness. As we prepare for Jesus’
coming, let Your peace fill our hearts and minds; let Your
peace inform our words, actions, and attitudes.
All: Fill our hearts with hope and peace! Amen.

 THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT
Third Candle: Joy
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Leader: Come Holy Spirit! In this third week of Advent, we ask You to
fill our hearts with joy as we prepare for Jesus, who is
coming soon!
All: Come, Lord Jesus.
Class adviser lights the first and second purple, as well as the rose
candle.
Leader: Lord, as we journey closer to Christmas, center our joyful
anticipation on Jesus’ coming. Of course You know that we
are excited about gifts, decorations, gatherings, and treats.
Let all of these passing joys point us toward the unending
joy that we find in knowing and loving Jesus.
All: Come, Lord Jesus.
Leader: Lord, as we joyfully look forward to Christmas, guard us
against worry, stress, and unnecessary obligations. Help us
clear out whatever busyness distracts us from Jesus or steals
our joy. Give us clear eyes and hearts so that, without
distractions, we might joyfully prepare for Jesus’ birth.
All: Fill our hearts with hope, peace, and joy! Amen.
