The File tab will bring you into the Backstage View. The Backstage View is where you manage
your files and the data about them – creating, opening, printing, saving, inspecting for hidden
metadata or personal information, and setting options.
A customizable toolbar at the top of an active document. By default, the Quick Access Toolbar
displays the Save, Undo, and Repeat buttons and is used for easy access to frequently used
commands. To customize this toolbar, click on the dropdown arrow and select the commands you
want to add
Title Bar
A horizontal bar at the top of an active document. This bar displays the name of the document
and application. At the right end of the Title Bar are the Control Buttons.
Control buttons
The Control Buttons are located at the top right corner of the interface. It consists of three
buttons; the Minimize, Maximize/Restore, and Close buttons. It also has an additional button; the
“Ribbon Display”

Sign-in
Here you can use most of Microsoft word functionality. You must have a proper internet
connection then sign in with Microsoft account.
Ribbon
An area across the top of the screen that makes almost all the capabilities of Word available in a
single area. The Ribbon contains all the commands you will need to perform common tasks in Word.
It has multiple tabs, each with several groups of commands.
Tabs
An area on the Ribbon that contains buttons that are organized in groups. The default tabs are
Home, Insert, Design, Layout, References, Mailings, Review, View and EndNote X5
Groups
A button in the corner of a group that launches a dialog box containing all the options within
that group.
Status bar
This are display miscellaneous information of your current document like; number of pages, how
many words are used language and so many more.
View Toolbar
Zoom Controls
This area displays your page zoom in or zoom out. By taking the small line button to right for
zooming and left for zoom out. Simply you magnify your document.
Tell Me
This is a text field where you can enter words and phrases about what you want to do next and
quickly get to features you want to use or actions you want to perform. You can also use Tell Me to
find help about what you're looking for, or to use Smart Lookup to research or define the term you
entered

Insertion Point
The insertion point for text appears as a flashing vertical bar. As you type text, the flashing
vertical bar moves to the right of the text you type. A text insertion point also defines the place in
the text where you want to paste cut or copied items or, with the Text Editor, insert files and
templates.
Document Area
An area where the user types the text in a Word document. It is a blank section of a word
processor. It allows the user to create content. It is basically a blank word document having a white
page as a document
