CSMC Contest (ALevel) Memo
Dear Parents,
The Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) (acknowledged by the
University of Waterloo Canada) is dedicated to inspiring students to reach further with
mathematics and computer science. They are committed to giving students the tools
they need to build their confidence, grow their problem-solving skills and get excited
about mathematics and computing.
The Canadian Senior and Intermediate Mathematics Contests (CSMC) contest
designed to give students the opportunity to have fun and to develop their mathematical
problem-solving ability.
Audience
Senior Level — any student with intermediate to advanced mathematical
problem-solving skills.

Mathematical Content
Most of the CSMC problems are based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including
the final year of secondary school.
Calculators
Calculating devices are allowed, provided that they do not have any of the following
features:
• internet access,
• the ability to communicate with other devices,
• information previously stored by students (such as formulas, programs, notes, etc.),
• a computer algebra system,
• dynamic geometry software.
Examples of disallowed devices are the Casio ClassPad 300 series, HP Prime and TI-Nspire
CAS.

Procedure of Registration
For registration, students must submit the registration fee to CAIE office of school, not
later than Monday, 16th October, 2023 by 12:00 PM.
