Dear applicants,

We'd like to inform you that we're currently working on improving the
application test and our application-checking strategies. You can still apply,
but know that your texts will be reviewed after we finish implementing the
improvements mentioned, which is expected to happen in August at the
latest.

Thank you for your understanding,

Joci

TEST INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

We want to inform potential applicants that TextRoyal has decided to freeze
the application process for a while. Submissions of promising candidates
will be put on hold until further notice, while those of applicants who fail to
meet our requirements will continue to be declined. That said, applicants
who pass the test will be notified about that via email but won’t be able to
work for our company until we start accepting new writers.

If you’d still like to apply, please continue reading the instructions.

Note #1: We’ve received emails from a few of you asking about the status of their applications, so we
thought we’d make a note about this here. You can rest assured that your applications will get
checked - it’s impossible for a submission to be missed, skipped, or forgotten about. This might
take some time because the application process is currently on hold, but every test will be checked.
Please email us to ask about your application's status ONLY if you haven't heard back from us for
more than two-three weeks after submitting your test.

Note #2: We don't allow individual applicants to submit more than one application at the same time. If
your application was declined, you can retake the test anytime. However, you can't simultaneously apply
using one or multiple email addresses. That's because we allow each of our writers to have a single
account on the platform. Therefore, please wait for your test to be reviewed before you can try again in
case you didn't pass.

Note #3: We’ve noticed that plenty of people are submitting versions of an article that begins something
like this: “There are two types of keyboards: membrane and mechanical. In this article, we’ll talk
about the THREE MAJOR DIFFERENCES between them.” The article then elaborates on the
differences in the key switch technology, durability, and tactile feedback between the two keyboard types
in three sections, with their order varying between the different versions of the text. This is cheating, so
none of these articles will be considered.

Note #4: Recently, we've noticed that many applicants are submitting articles that begin with this weird
line: "When it comes to computer keyboards, there are two main types: membrane and mechanical." Also,
a large number of product descriptions contain the following phrases: "eye-catching design," "a treat for
yourself," "a gift for a loved one," "perfect for both special occasions and everyday wear," "a must-have
addition to your jewelry collection," “adds glamour/elegance to every outfit,” and so on. Please break this
pattern. Applicants who decide to start their articles with the aforementioned line or submit
product descriptions that are conglomerates of the phrases listed here will not pass the test.

Note #5: YOU MUST INCLUDE A PRODUCT DESCRIPTION IN YOUR APPLICATION (see section 2)!

Note #6: AI-written texts will NOT be accepted.

Before you begin writing, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
I can’t stress enough how important this is. Past applicants who've decided to read them
only partially have failed this test. Keep in mind that we're not only testing your ability to
write but your ability to follow instructions, too.

1. WRITE AN ARTICLE
Write a short article about the difference between mechanical and membrane keyboards. Don't
write about keyboards used in appliances, industrial machines, medical equipment, terminals,
etc. We're exclusively interested in computer keyboards.

Describe what these two types of keyboards are and how they're different. You can write as
much as you like, but the article should not be shorter than 300 words.

Keep in mind that we rigorously check for plagiarism. Therefore, don't just pick a random article
from the internet and rewrite it. Most of them are inaccurate and outdated. Do some research
and try to use YOUR OWN words. WE DON'T ACCEPT APPLICANTS WHO SUBMIT
PLAGIARIZED TEXTS OR TEXTS RIDDLED WITH FALSE INFORMATION.

Mind the grammar, syntax, and punctuation in your text. APPLICANTS WHO SUBMIT
ARTICLES RIDDLED WITH GRAMMAR, SYNTAX, AND PUNCTUATION ERRORS WON'T
PASS.

Finally, make sure you have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Separate these
sections with a few headings, and ensure that the paragraphs in each section have 70
words or less. You can use WordCounter to count the words in your paragraphs. This way,
your text will look like an actual article.

Here's a sample outline of an article:

Introduction
● Heading 1 (Article title)
○ One or two paragraphs

Body
● Heading 2 (Alternative title)
○ One or two paragraphs
● Heading 3
○ One to three paragraphs
● Heading 3
○ One to three paragraphs
● Heading 3
○ One to three paragraphs

Conclusion
● Heading 4
○ One or two paragraphs

2. WRITE A PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

https://imgur.com/a/0KNkd2c - Write a product description for these earrings in 50-70 words.
Don’t write a description longer than 50-70 words because that’s not what we’re looking
for. Instead of stating facts ("they're white, they go on your ears"), focus on the benefits and why
somebody would want to buy them (unique design, suitable for any occasion, maybe as a gift,
etc.).

What do these earrings look like? What makes them stand out from millions of similar products
you can find online? Where would you wear them? Who would you get them for? Try to "paint a
picture," as they say in marketing. Be descriptive and use words like "beautiful", "amazing",
"stunning", "fantastic", "lovely", "perfect".

Write your description based on what you can see and confirm from the images. These earrings
could cost $7 or $700. Since we don't know, stay away from things like 24-karat gold, diamonds,
etc. Otherwise, your product description will be bad because of false information in it.

In case the link we provided doesn't work for you, pick a random pair of earrings from Amazon
or any other website and write a description for it. Please include a link in your application so we
can see the product.
For reference, you can take a look at some of the 30 product descriptions in this article:

Please write your product description underneath your article. You will not be redirected to a
different page to write your description.

A SUMMARY OF THE THINGS THAT MAKE FOR BAD

ARTICLES AND PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
Your article should NOT:
● Contain repeating grammar, syntax, or punctuation errors;
● Contain one false information of significant character;
● Contain two or more false information of less significant character;
● Contain plagiarized sentences;
● Be shorter than 300 words;
● Have several paragraphs longer than 70 words (it’s also unacceptable to have half or
more of your paragraphs exceed the word limit);
● Have no headings;
● Be off-topic;
● Be created by an AI content generator.

Your product description should NOT:

● Be significantly longer than the required word count of 50-70 words;
● Contain false information about the product;
● Be off-topic;
● Be created by an AI content generator.

Once you’ve made sure you have both of your texts (the article and the product description)
ready, paste them BOTH into the text editor on the site before clicking the “SEND FOR
REVIEW” button. You must paste both of your texts in the SAME text editor before
submitting them — there ISN’T a separate text editor to fiddle with your product
description in, nor is there a second Submit button.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
An applicant could have a bad product description and still pass if their article is okay.
However, an applicant with a bad article won't pass regardless of the quality of their
description. NOTE THAT YOU HAVE TO SUBMIT BOTH OF THE TEXTS FOR YOUR
APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED! Furthermore, your application will be declined if
your article does not meet one or more of the requirements mentioned above.

People who choose to apply with rewrites of other applicants’ texts won't pass the test.
Since we keep a record of every application that’s ever been submitted, we can easily
compare the tests of different applicants. Remember, we're looking for talented
individuals who can do their own research and write articles by themselves.

If you need clarification on something before you begin your test, please email us at
joci@textroyal.com.

Good luck!
