3. Measuring instruments are checked and calibrated in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
4. Tools are cleaned and lubricated according to standard procedures.
5. Defective equipment and tools are inspected and replaced according to manufacturer’s specification.
6. Work place is cleaned and kept in safe state in line with OSHC regulations.
I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:
1. Identify the different types and kinds of cleaning solvents and its use.
2. Create a list of appropriate application of each cleaning solvent
3. Value the importance of understanding the properties and characteristics of each cleaning solvent.

B. Recall
The teacher will show some pictures of tools and equipment and briefly ask the students a set of questions as a recall of the
previous lesson. The teacher will connect this to the continuation of the discussion.

The teacher will ask the students the kind of lubricant based on its characteristic.

Anti-rust Lubricant Spray Wire Pulling Lubricant All Purpose Anti-rust Lubricant

Lubricant oil and Engine Oil Silicon Lubricant

A. Introduction Motivation
PICTIONARY: The teacher will ask a volunteer from the class. The student who volunteered will pick a word that he/she will draw on
the board. The first student to guess the drawing will earn a point together with the student who draw.
Words to be drawn:
Water
Gasoline
Kerosene
Thinner
Detergent soap
B. Development Types and Kinds of Cleaning Solvents

Solvent is a component of a solution that dissolves solute and is usually present in large proportion or amount. It can be
classified as polar and nonpolar. Polar solvents are solvents which dissolve/are soluble in water; while nonpolar solvents are
solvents which do not dissolve/are insoluble in water.
Solvents are usually used for cleaning in workshops. They are water, gasoline, kerosene, thinner and detergent soap.
The table below shows the kinds of cleaning solvent based on their solubility in water.

C. Engagement Learning task 1

Directions: Match the cleaning solvents in Column A with their corresponding uses in Column B.

4. A
5. B
D. Assimilation GENERALIZATION
The teacher will ask the students the following questions.
1. What are the different types of cleaning solvents and their properties?
2. How does solubility relate to the effectiveness of a cleaning solvent?
3. What are the differences between polar and polar solvents, and how do they affect their uses for cleaning?

EVALUATION
