PIKACHU CROCHET PATTERN

Materials Needed:
Medium weight YELLOW yarn
Medium weight BLACK yarn
Medium weight LIGHT BROWN yarn
2 black plastic eyes (painted felt or carefully sewn black yarn can be substituted to
reduce choking hazard for young children)
Red felt circles
4mm Crochet hook
Yarn needle
Stuffing
Hot glue

Head: in Yellow
1) magic circle with 6st (6)
2) inc around (12)

f/o and leave a tail. Sew it closed (it should be a complete sphere).

Tail*: in Yellow and Light Brown


*The tail is worked in rounds around a chain instead of a magic circle. Keep the two sides flattened
together as you go. On two occasions you’ll close a section of the tail by stitching sc into stitches from
both sides of the round at once.
Start: with Yellow yarn, ch8.
1) turn, beginning in 2nd ch from hook, 6sc, inc, 7sc (15)
2) sc around (15)
3) 7sc, inc, 6sc, dec (15)
4) 6sc, inc, 8sc (16)
5) **4sc into both sides to close off first zigzag, 3sc, ch 3, turn, beginning in the
2nd ch from hook, 2sc into the near side of the next two ch, 4sc (11)
6) 10sc (including 2sc into the other side of the two ch from the previous round),
dec (10)
7) 4sc, inc, 5sc (11)
8) 5sc, inc, 5sc (12)
9) 2sc into both sides to close off second zigzag, 7sc (7)

10-12 sc around (3 rounds) (7)
f/o leave an extra long tail for sewing as well as making the back markings. **Sew
the brown part of the tail onto the back of the body, then sew the back markings in
brown as well.

Eyes: Glue or sew on black plastic eyes.

Mouth/Nose: Separate a single strand of black yarn and carefully sew mouth and nose
lines. Black embroidery floss may be a good option as well.

Cheeks: Cut small circles of red felt and glue them by the eyes.
