Question: May specimens used for periodic checks on the calibration of Charpy impact
test equipment be obtained from a source other than the nationally recognized supplier
of such material?

Reply: Yes. However, if the provisions of NCA-4134.12(b) related to

periodic checking and discrepancy resolution are to be utilized, then the
Quality Assurance Program must address methods and frequency of
checking.
