Selected organization: King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC)

One of the most prestigious medical facilities in Saudi Arabia is King Faisal Specialist Hospital
and Research Centre (KFSH&RC). Its mission statement reads, "To provide comprehensive and
integrated healthcare services of the highest quality in accordance with the most recent
international standards," and its vision statement reads, "To be a global leader in healthcare,
research, and education."

An organization's mission statement should explain what it does and how it plans to do it (David
& David, 2003). In a single sentence, KFSH&RC's mission statement expresses the
organization's dedication to providing patients with healthcare that meets or exceeds current
global standards. As such, it acts as a road map for the organization's existing operations and
future endeavors.

The opposite is true of a vision statement, which articulates an organization's hopes and
objectives for the future (Kotter, 1996). In its vision statement, KFSH&RC aspires to become a
world leader in patient care, scientific discovery, and academic training. The organization's long-
term strategic planning and decision-making will be guided by this vision.

The KFSH&RC mission and vision statements are not only complementary to one another, but
also to Saudi Vision 2030, the national plan to turn Saudi Arabia into an economic powerhouse
based on three main pillars: economic growth, human capital development, and social cohesion
(Saudi Vision 2030, n.d.).

KFSH&RC's dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services is consistent with the

principle of human capital development and social cohesion because it improves the health and
happiness of the Saudi people. Its emphasis on education and research is crucial to the expansion
of the national economy and the enhancement of human capital, two of the tenets of Saudi Vision
2030.

The goal of Saudi Vision 2030 is to improve Saudi Arabia's position in the global economy, and
the aim to become a global leader in healthcare, research, and education is consistent with this
goal. Al-Olayan and Al-Tuwaijri (2019) note the importance of healthcare institutions aligning
with Saudi Vision 2030 because of the vital role they play in providing high-quality healthcare
services, funding medical research, and educating the next generation of medical experts.
Finally, the KFSH&RC's mission and vision statements provide the organization with a clear
path forward and are consistent with the Saudi government's Vision 2030 plan for the country.
KFSH&RC is making tremendous strides toward achieving Saudi Arabia's lofty national vision
by aiming for worldwide leadership in healthcare, research, and education.

In Saudi Arabia, Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group is a well-known healthcare organization
that strives to be the country's premier provider of healthcare services and acquire patients'
complete confidence. Through cutting-edge technology and facilities, their mission is to
introduce innovative practices in the medical sector, thereby creating value for the entire
kingdom. A vision statement describes the long-term objectives of an organization, highlighting
its aspirations and the services it provides to its stakeholders. In contrast, a mission statement
articulates the rationale behind an organization's existence, incorporating its values, traditions,
and the characteristics of its products or services. Both statements are crucial in determining the
identity and strategic direction of the company.
