SUMMARY

The summary is a brief description of the report, but should not be written as an
introduction. It is intended for the casual reader or the person who does not have time to
read the entire report. The summary should not exceed a page in length, with a single
space. The summary should include a brief description of the key results. The summary
must be the last written section, that is, it must be written after the rest of the report has
been completed. In general, the summary should not contain equations, symbols or
special references. Verify in the rubric the contents of the summary.

1 INTRODUCTION

The introduction provides supporting information for the reason for the study. This
section establishes the objective or purpose of the study. However, the introduction is
not a summary of the report, but could describe what the report contains (that is, a
preview). In general, the figures should not appear in the introduction. However, if a
figure serves to support the introduction, it can be used.

1.1 General objective

The general objective of the practice should be included

1.2 Specific objectives

List the specific objectives, these should be measurable, achievable, realistic,
considering the time taken in practice. Take into consideration that these must be
answered in the report and linked to the conclusions.
 Specific objective 1
 Specific objective 2
 Specific objective 3
7

2 EXPERIMENTAL METHODS AND PROCEDURES

2.1 Experiment description

The section should describe the apparatus and experimental procedures. A

schematic diagram is required and the diagram must identify the equipment and
instrumentation. In some cases where complete documentation is required, a list of
equipment must be included. Include a brief narrative description related to important
aspects of the procedure, including specific parameters used such as voltage,
thermocouples, etc. Remember that you must provide enough details for another person
to reproduce the experiments. Figure 1 is an example.

Figure 1 Experiment Diagram

2.2 Procedure
Detail the procedure clearly and concisely, numbering the steps.
1. Step 1
2. Step 2
3. Step 3
8

3 THEORY AND ANALYSIS

This section contains a general discussion of the theory applicable to the

experiment, the specific applications of the theory can often be supported with the help
of the corresponding diagrams. Perform an analysis of the equations without replacing
numerical values.
9

4 DATA AND CALCULATIONS

Data are presented in tables and / or graphs as appropriate. Tables and graphs
have title and numbering. An example calculation is performed with the entire procedure.
The appropriate number of significant figures is used and units are included. All the
requested calculations are performed

4.1 Experimental data

The following table shows an example, it must be numbered and named so that it
appears in the table index.

Table 1 Temperature distributions

x (m) T (°C)
0.015 50
0.030 45
0.045 40
0.060 35
0.075 30
0.090 25
0.105 20

4.2 Calculation’s example

This section should include an example calculation with the entire procedure. With
the equations that were obtained previously replace the values and show the result. In
the case of having several data present the results.
10

5 RESULTS Y DISCUSSION

Start with an introduction before discussing any specific outcome.

5.1 Results
The results and the discussion can be divided into subsections if desired (for
example, A., B., etc.). The results of the report are done in narrative form, graphically and
in a table form according to the particular study. The results should include trends (as
shown in the figures, tables and / or graphs).

5.2 Discussion
Compare the experiments with the theory, and discuss the importance of the
findings. Errors, effects, sources and ways to reduce or eliminate them are discussed.
11

6 CONCLUSIONS Y RECOMENDATIONS

The final results of the experiment are presented in a summarized way, the
conclusions should be related to the objectives mentioned in the introduction, and also
what was learned in practice. Suggestions and relevant alternatives are included to
improve the practice.

ANNEXES

Annexes are included here. In the case of having a table from which properties or
extensive data tables were obtained that do not merit being included in the core of the
report but are referred to by annex.
