Activity: Group Discussion and Analysis of Qualitative Research Articles

Objective: By the end of this activity, students should be able to analyze and
evaluate different types of qualitative research designs and their application in
real-world research.

Instructions:

Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a different qualitative
research article to read and analyze. The articles should represent different types
of qualitative research designs, such as phenomenological, ethnographic, grounded
theory, and narrative research.

Have each group read and discuss the article, focusing on the following questions:

What is the research question or problem being addressed?

What is the research design used in the study?
What data collection and analysis methods are used?
What are the key findings or conclusions of the study?
How does this study contribute to the broader field of research on the topic?
After the groups have had time to discuss their articles, reconvene the class and
have each group present a brief summary of their article and their analysis.
Encourage class discussion and debate on the strengths and limitations of each
research design and its application in real-world research.

As a class, compare and contrast the different types of qualitative research

designs and their applications. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each
design and how they can be used to answer different research questions or problems.

Finally, have students reflect on what they have learned about qualitative research
designs and their application in real-world research. Ask them to discuss how they
might use these research designs in their own future research or work.
