COURSE INFORMATION
1. Course Number : EDUC 106
2. Course Name : The Teacher and the School Curriculum
3. Course Description :The course is intended to introduce education students to effective curriculum
design and assessment. The course topics include curriculum models, principles
and approaches in designing, delivering and addressing the curriculum.
4. Pre-requisite : None
5. Co-requisite : None
6. Credit : 3.0 units
7. Class schedule : 6 hours per week
8. Program Educational Objectives (PEO) of Teacher Education:
Three to five years, Teacher Education graduates are expected to:
A. Demonstrate updated and deep knowledge of the subject matter they teach;
B. Apply a wide range of teaching process skills particularly on lesson planning, materials
development, teaching approaches, and holistic considerations;
C. Demonstrate ethical responsibility in teaching profession; and
D. Engage in continuing professional education and trainings.

First Exam Week 1-3 Topics Multiple Choice You are expected to come up with a concrete concept of a curriculum and differentiate the

”“course of study” and “lesson note”. Lastly, you need to explain the nature and importance
of curriculum in schools.

and organization. Lastly, to discuss the three domains of educational objectives and give an

content or subject matter and learning experiences.

Third Exam Week 6-7 Topics Curriculum Planning ● The purpose of this task is for you to apply what you have learned from all the topics that
are being discussed.
● You will design your own curriculum (syllabus) according to your field of specialization by
applying the different educational principles, philosophies, and foundations of curriculum
plan/design.
Your syllabus must contain the following:

15. Policies and Guidelines


a. Attendance is counted from the first regular class meeting.
b. A validated student identification card must always be worn by all students while attending
classes. SPR must be presented by students at the beginning of term to verify the identity
of the students.
c. Cheating is strictly prohibited. Any form of dishonesty shall be dealt with accordingly.
Honesty is called for at all times.
d. Valid examination permits are necessary in taking the examinations as scheduled.
CELLULAR PHONES any ELECTRONIC GADGETS and PRESCRIBED PRC CALCULATIONS are
NOT allowed during EXAMINATIONS.
e. Base-15 grading policy should be observed. Students who obtained failing scores in major
exams are recommended to attend the tutorial class.
