 Choose 1 Machine

- RICE COOKER (ASTRON)

 Explain how it functions
- A rice cooker is a kitchen equipment meant to automate and simplify the process of cooking rice.
It employs a combination of heating sources, temperature sensors, and timing systems to ensure
that the rice is cooked evenly and to the desired level of completion. This is how a standard rice
cooker works:
1. Water and rice measurement
- put a desired amount of rice and water to the inner cooking pot. The inner cooking pos is
made of aluminum or stainless.
2. Heating element activation/initial heating
- when we are going to start cooking rice, the heating element beneath the cooking pot is
activated. It generates heat, which is transferred to the bottom of the pot.
3. Boiling water
- as the water heats up, it starts to boil. The boiling water creates steam, and the temperature
inside the post increases.
4. Temperature sensor
- the rice cooker is equipped with a temperature sensor that monitors the temperature inside
the pot. It helps regulate the cooking process to prevent overcooking or burning.
5. Transition to steaming
- Once most of the water is absorbed and evaporated, the temperature inside the pot begins to
rise rapidly. This transition from boiling to steaming is detected by the sensor.
6. Automatic switching
- When the sensor determines that the temperature has reached a certain threshold, it signals
the rice cooker to switch from the high heat setting to a lower heat setting, often labeled as
"Keep Warm."

In short, a rice cooker automates the operations of heating, boiling, and steaming rice. Its
thermal sensor and heating element work together to guarantee that the rice is correctly cooked, and
the appliance shifts to a "keep warm" mode to keep the temperature of the cooked rice warm until it
is ready to serve.
 Discuss how you can improve the machine (rice cooker)
1. Cooking precision- Implement advanced temperature and pressure sensors to ensure precise
cooking and better control over different rice varieties
2. Energy efficiency -Incorporate efficient heating elements and insulation materials to
minimize heat loss during cooking.
-Implement a smart system that preheats only the required amount of water, optimizing
energy consumption.

3. Safety features- Integrate mechanisms to prevent overheating and overpressure situations

that could lead to accidents.
- Include automatic shut-off capabilities when cooking is complete or when anomalies are
detected.
4. Smart connectivity- enable WIFI or Bluetooth connectivity to allow users to monitor and
control the rice cooker remotely through smartphone app.
5. Cooking status update- Incorporate LED displays or app notifications that show the current
cooking stage, time remaining, and completed cooking.
6. Non-stick and easy-to-clean inner pot- improve the design of the inner pot to ensure that
the rice does not stick to it, making cleaning easier.
7. Quality and durability- ensure that the appliance is built to last with high-quality
components and construction.
