This appendix presents an example of an earthquake sensor that can be used on
the sites.

Earthquake sensors make the site safe (cutting-out circuits and valves etc) in the
event of an earthquake.

It is a device that detects the seismic acceleration that occurs during an

earthquake and generates control signals to cut-out the electro valves.

This type of device's detection system is usually based on very sensitive micro
machined silicon sensors.

These devices are designed to be fixed to a wall that isn't likely to suffer
vibrations during normal operation (no earthquake). They have 5-20 mA relay
outputs or outputs. Their sensitivity can be adjusted.

In the event of an earthquake, these detectors make the site safe (including
closing cut-off devices etc).
