Scapula & Shoulder CARs

Exercises: Scapula CARs, shoulder CARs

Equipment needed:

● Maybe a yoga block to squeeze between your legs if you want more

tension.

Tips For This Class

Always watch for compensations – for the shoulder blades it will often be your

ribs pushing forward, for the shoulder, it can be your elbow bending, your

shoulder blade lifting, or your rib cage thrusting or rotating. Try to stabilize so

you can focus only on the relevant joint!

If something hurts, make your CARs smaller or lighter – no need to go into

pain. And make a note of it as something to address in your practice!

If something hurts on the closing angle of your joint, it’s a flag and may need

some manual therapy to address. I always recommend working with some

trained in Functional Range Release:

Real Life Movement Practice

Practice light scap and shoulder CARs daily, 2-3 rounds of each in both

directions – it should only take a minute or two. I recommend first thing in

the AM. The goal is to help you establish a CARs AM routine and to help you

learn these movements well. If time permits, continue with the other CARs

you know as well.
