OBJECTIVE
For safe operation of all personnel and employees to be made aware of starting up equipment

2. SCOPE
Testing of pre start alarms to ensure operation and compliance

3. REVIEW
It is the responsibility of the Safety Officer to ensure that this procedure is reviewed every
two years.

4. IMPLEMENTATION
The following Roles are responsible to implement this procedure

Procedure

1. Fill out mini risk assessment and communicate with entire team
2. Open any specific panel to check timer, the timer must be on 10sec
3. Close the panel and start the specific equipment to see if the pre start alarm sounds for
10sec
4. Check loose connection on siren itself
5. If the alarm is not sounding, disconnect alarm and check if siren wires are not burned
6. Check if siren is still functioning
7. If the siren is not functioning it needs to be replaced
8. When replacing a siren, a full lockout needs to be done
9. Fill out risk assessment
10. Disconnect old siren
11. Connect new siren
12. Switch on power and check is siren is working

General
 Correct PPE must be worn
 Communicate risk assessment with all persons involved.
 Warn employees of equipment being tested and that belts/equipment may start
 All personnel to stay clear and not commence with any work at this stage until routine
inspection or maint. Is completed.
