Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to express my strong interest in the position of Physical Education Teacher

(PK-12) at Cortland Enlarged City School District, starting in Winter 2024. I am currently
working towards my Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education at SUNY Cortland, and I
have been recognized on the Dean’s List or President's List every semester. I hold current
CPR/AED/FA certifications and am committed to maintaining these certifications. Additionally,
I am on track to attain initial certification in the state of NY by January 15th, 2024. I am
prepared to commit to a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, between 8 am - 4:30 pm.

I have had the privilege of engaging in one-on-one physical education instruction with a
young student who had cerebral palsy. This opportunity has taught me how to appropriately
adapt to a student’s specific needs by using modified equipment, specialized activities, and
differentiated lesson plans. It has also given me a deeper appreciation for the diversity of
students and has motivated me to adhere to each and every student’s needs. In addition, my
experience has taught me a significant amount about co-teaching. Often, I would collaborate
with a graduate student, because of this I have learned a great deal about how to work effectively
with other educators. This experience taught me the importance of clear communication, mutual
respect and most importantly a shared commitment towards student success.

I am dedicated to creating success-oriented learning experiences, emphasizing engaging

activities that build essential skills and empower students to excel. My classroom management
skills have been addressed in one-on-one settings, demonstrating a strong track record of setting
clear boundaries and promoting self-management and responsibility in students. Furthermore,
my experience has emphasized the importance of fostering strong relationships with students and
their families. This involves prioritizing open, empathetic communication with my students to
understand their individual needs, as well as actively engaging parents through regular updates
and meetings. My proactive teaching approach enables me to excel in addressing the distinct
needs of every student, including prevention, intervention, and problem-solving.

I want to provide the students at your school with the best possible education. I want to
push students to think beyond just physical education and into the real world. I believe that I can
connect with students in a meaningful way and make sure that every student gets exactly what
they need. My resume is enclosed with this letter and contains all of my contact information and
has all other application materials ready. I will promptly provide any other materials that you
may need as well. I am looking forward to meeting you for an interview at your convenience.

Sincerely,

-Peter Santorelli
