B. COACH

You have just done a quick year-end review of your goals and freshman life. This is an important step for you
to take in order to improve your life goals. Just like a guitar, your goals need some fine tuning in order to
successfully achieve the melody of your set goals.

—THINK —

Reflecting on a single experience can produce significant value and increase learning from
that experience. However, when you develop a reflective attitude and habit and match it with
your personal set of values, goals, and ambitions, reflection becomes most valuable. By doing
this, you may take control of your growth, influence, and impact in your studies, job,
community, and personal life.

Some individuals believe that reflection is a technique used in

response to unique, individual experiences. The basic process
follows the ERA model – Experience, Reflection, Action.

In reality, one of the biggest values of reflection comes when

we repeat the reflective process again and again for a series of
experiences. As a result, a lot of reflective models are circular
– following an experience, we reflect on it and identify learning
and actions that we can feed into future experiences.

As a result, we may transform a one-time reflective cycle into a

continuous process of reflection, enhancing the learning and value each time.

By establishing an ongoing process of reflection, we create significant additional value. This

Thus, a reflective habit may help you learn more, grow, and become more aware of who
you are based on your experiences. By aligning this with a specific set of values, goals, and
objectives that are personally or professionally meaningful to you, the ability to achieve
progress that is purposeful and move in the direction you want will ultimately help you get
closer to the life that is right for you!

C. CHECK

—REFLECT—

You have just learned that reflecting is an essential habit to create and achieve your goals. Earlier, you just
reviewed your past experiences by looking back at what happened in the previous year. In the same manner,
you were able to list down your successes and disappointments and your feelings towards them.

Now is the time to take action!

As you create your action plan, try to look at what you have previously written in your Odyssey Plan.
What did you write in your Life Plan 1 under “2 years from now”? What did you envision and write under
“5 years from now”?

Fine tune your goals. Make them specific. Make them achievable through small, actionable, and practical
milestones! Fill out the table below.
