Personal & Achievements Reflection

Last semester, I joined the rugby team at our school. The team started earlier than the
season, so we just had simple practices every week and learned some plays our coach
designed. That was not the first time I tried rugby that I also joined the team in grade 10, but
that year lack of experience and players led us couldn’t get Ideal score. When grade 11, our
team got way stronger, and many experienced grade 12 players led us to win most of our
games. Moreover, we got to the provincial championship and we won first place.
This experience made me learn a lot, during the game season we had games almost every
week, so we also had a lot practices. Sence that play rugby took up lots of my time, I needed
to have good time management skills to rationalize my work. In the team my position was
wing that I learned to work with my teammates for different plays, and sometimes I even
needed to help or be as a forward. That helped me develop teamwork and responsibility.
Furthermore, I was the only Chinese player in the team, so that also helped my language
abilities because I had to listen and community with coaches and teammates with English.
To myself, I really enjoyed playing rugby with my teammates, it teaches me never to be
afraid to press forward, to be responsibility to self and work, and to be confident to
communicate and work with groups. Furthermore, I made a lot of friends and it was very
happy to be a part of the team, and to see how we beat many opponents and made it to the
provincial, and even ended up getting the championship. I believe this will be one of my best
memories.
Nevertheless, it was unfortunate that I hurt my shoulder in one of our games, so I had
stopped playing for a while, but I still chose to attend every game and practices to help my
team that carrying training supplies and to help them warm up. That made me realize that I
need to start to hit the gym more to make my body stronger, and do more exercises to
decrease the chances of getting injured.
