Laio is a aluminium sub-frame system for stone dry fixing in rain-screen / ventilated
cladding. The stones are installed with continous kerfs on the top and bottom edges of the slab.
Laio cladding system is a mechanical system, and no adhesive is necessary for its installation.
The system works by securing and supporting stone slabs by means of horizontal runners to
vertical aluminium sub-frame that is bracketed to the supporting wall. The system is articulated
by means of relevant fastenings. The natural stone slabs are separated using vertical and
horizontal joints. The joints between the natural stone slabs must always be open allowing
expansion and contraction of stone slabs. This system can be fixed on brickwork, concrete or
metal structures, both in new and in renovation work.

The system consists of:

1. Natural / engineered stone slabs of desired size and calculated thickness.

2. Aluminium sub-frame system, anchored to the supporting wall is composed of:

-Anchor fasteners of specified make are drilled mechanically in the vertical walls.
Depending upon the type of back support, RCC / Brick fasteners can be used. For unusual
loading conditions chemical fasteners can be used.

-Brackets are used to hold the subsystem in line, level and plumb. These brackets are bolted
to the anchorage system and further hold the vertical supports.

-Vertical mullions support and hold cantilever transmission of loads from the substructure to
the supporting wall through brackets and anchors.

-Horizontal runners bolted to the vertical mullions and secure the natural stone slabs.

-Kerfed stone slabs are fixed to the horizontal aluminium profiles

-EPDM gasket- To eliminate vibrations and act as a separator between aluminium and
stone.
