• In Japan, a walk through a forest or by a mountain stream (where high amounts
of negative ions are present) is regarded as therapy for mental stress, which the
Japanese call shinrinyoku, “forest-air breathing.”
• Human beings function best in the surroundings where they lived for thousands
of years — the natural world. The Nikken Power5 features many technologies
that are inspired by natural forces, to re-create the systems in nature that help
to provide clean, fresh, invigorating air.
• We are indoors 90 percent of the time. More than 65 percent of that time is
spent at home. This can mean exposure to very high levels of indoor air pollution.
• Daily exposure to indoor pollution can be from two to five times higher —
sometimes as much as 100 times higher — than outdoor pollutants!
• Carpeting, furniture, paint, cleaning agents, building materials, paneling and
glues can emit chemical vapors. Dust, pet dander, pollen and odors are typically in
household air. Mold, mildew, and dust mites may be present. Even gases such as
radon and carbon monoxide are found in measurable quantities in many homes.
• The Power5 features a patent-pending system for producing negative ions.
Known as clean ion generation, this unique technology operates without
producing ozone. Ozone is classified by the United States Environmental
Protection Agency as a toxic gas.
• HEPA filters were first developed for use with nuclear reactors. They are now
used in medical operating rooms, in high-tech industries and other applications
where clean, pure air is critically important. The Nikken Clean HEPA System
filters at 99.97% efficiency.
• The photocatalytic filter in the Power5 operates without requiring an ultraviolet light — unlike other photocatalysts that need ultraviolet radiation.
• Aromas are known to lead to reactions such as mood changes. Scents can make us recall distant memories, vividly and immediately.
