WORKSHEET:
Identify the different resources (metallic and Non-metallic) of the different
regions/provinces in the Philippines.

1. Central Luzon is rich in timber and mineral resources (both metallic and non-metallic).
METALLIC RESOURCES:
Aurora is known for its timber; Zambales for its refractory chromite, copper and nickel
deposits;
NON-METALLIC RESOURCES:
Tarlac for Manganese; Bulacan for marble; Pampanga for sand and gravel; and Nueva
Ecija for feldspar.

2. VISAYAS

There are two kinds of mineral resources. The first one is metallic. These are the
common types of metals such as copper, gold, etc. Central Visayas is rich in these kinds
of mineral resource. The metallic ore reserve of the region is approximately 1,140
million metric tons. One of the largest copper mines in Asia, Atlas Consolidated Mining
and Development Corporation, is located in Toledo, Cebu.
The second kind of mineral resource is non-metallic. They industrial materials, bauxite
and ceramics, fertilizer, construction materials, and cement raw materials. The most
abundant non-metallic resource in Central Visayas are industrial materials. Most of
these are in Cebu and estimated to be 2.1 billion metric tons. Cement raw materials are
the second most abundant in the region.

3. MINDANAO - is endowed with rich mineral resources.

Its metallic deposits include lead, zinc, ore, iron, copper, chromite, magnetite and gold.
Gold mined in Mindanao accounts for nearly half of the national gold reserves.
Its non-metallic mineral resources include marble, salt, sand, gravel, silica, clay, and
limestone.
