Mechanical process in a Distribution panel

First we need to know the types of distribution panels. Basically distribution panels divide
into two types.
 Standing type

 Wall mounting type


The every part of above types is made in a mechanical section of the factory. Some parts are
given in the bellow,

 Panel boxes
 Panel doors

 Cover plates

 Mounting plates
 Top plates

 Gland plates

 Side plates
 Back plates

 Panel base

 Partitions
The every part of the above is made by mechanical side. Selecting metal sheet, metal
cutting, punching, bending, welding, painting and finishing in this mechanical area.
 Select the suitable metal sheet
There are some of the types of metals. Engineers should select the most suitable
metal for relevant product. Thickness of the metal, cost and suitability will consider
at the selecting metal. The basic metal types are given in the bellow. The quality
increases when you go down.

 0.7mm, 0.8mm, 0.9mm,1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm

After the selecting suitable metal sheet, then it goes to cnc punching machine or cnc laser
cutting machine.
 CNC Punching machine
It will do some punching operations at here. It produces some different sizes of holes
and lines on the sheet. Basically this machine manufacturing some small parts in the
panel boxes or any other projects. Punching machine operates by the code. That
code names as the G-code. That code designs by the mechanical engineers. The
engineers make this code as the required design of the project. Then they send it to
the machine and then starting to cut the sheet. That machine has all of the tools in
there. That tools have packed up by machine operators before in some order. If that
order went wrong, all of the design cutting process is definitely going wrong. Then
the machine select the relevant tool and do the right thing. But in this time all of the
sheet will not separate one by one. So it should get some man power to separate
this. If it was separated, machine will fail to travel the sheet on the machine bed.
 CNC laser cutting machine
This machine makes some finished parts and different kinds of finished holes on the
metal sheet. Side plates, bottom plates, top plates, gland plats, back plates and
door designs etc. are made by this laser cutting machine. The machine is basically
operated with a high beam laser. This one also have some intelligent control
section. And it needs some knowledgeable operator to operate this machine also. If
the factory needs to do a large project, it should make a design by engineers as we
discussed before cnc punching machine. Otherwise if it is a small work, it can be
made by the control panel in the machine.

 Bending machine
Bending machine is also a cnc type machine. It also has a control unit. This machine
bends the sheet received by the cutting section, to the extent necessary degrees.
The machine operator can make the settings on to the requirement and then keep
the sheet and bend it smoothly. Then the bended items send to the welding section
to do any other processes.

 Welding section
Add some parts and welding the received items by bending machine in this section.
Welding the corners of the boxes or doors in this section. The welding is doing by the
copper. The welders should be experienced and they should be careful to do this
very smoothly. Struds adding is doing in this section also. It will use to fix the door

earth in any electrical panel. After welding the quite a bit of work done will grinding
and polishing are the next steps.
 Painting
Powder coating system is basically used for painting metal components. Its process is
too much complex. The powder that we use for this process has made by polyester
material. Powder is filling up to the barrel connected with a gun. Then gun should
connect with the compressor. Then it will start to release the air with the powder
when pressed the trigger. So next powder starts to come outside with a pressure.
And also we need to charge the powder and metal as positive and negative
separately. Here the powder positively charged by electromagnetic coil after
50000V. At the same time the metal material is connect to the ground to negatively
charge. Then the powder falls on to the metal. Once coated, it should keep in the
oven with 400 Fahrenheit at 10 - 20 minutes for happening the chemical process
inside. And also this powder coating process can’t apply to the non-conducted
materials, because it can’t be charged. After completing the coating process it will
measure the thickness of the paint. If it has not the required thickness, it will send to
do the previous steps again.
 Then completed metal component sends to electrical section to do other steps.
