Bioinsecticidal Properties of Aqueous Mangifera indica Leaves Extract against Aphids-

extracts against Brevicoryne brassicae and their effects on pollinators. Journal of

Entomology and Zoology Studies. 6(5), 1-05. https://www.researchgate.net/

Javaria and the other’s stated that botanicals were neem seed extract, neem leaf extract,

dathora seed extract, kaner leaf extract and aak leaf extract. And it is also stated that

unlike insecticides, plant-based products can be a better option for regulating pests and

conserving beneficial insect plants. In this study highlighted that neem seed extracts can

reduce the population of aphids in plants. Also, in this study with the help of the active

ingredients carbusulfan it gives the best control against aphids. With the help of this

study journal, I have been able to improve and to be not opinionated regarding on the

conduction of my experimentation.

Kirchner, S. (2014). Epidemiology and enhanced control of potato virus Y in high grade seed

potato production. CORE – Aggregating the world’s open access research

papers. https://core.ac.uk

Kirchner, the author explain that potato virus Y can cause an economic loss and that it

can also reduce the growth of the plant and the quality and quantity of the yield. This

study emphasizes characterizing the species composition and phenology of the aphid

fauna. Determine the incidence of aphid species with documented ability to transmit

PVY and to use a modelling approach to determine their relative importance as vectors

including timing of virus transmission. This study also compares the application of straw

mulch, mineral oil, and birch extract with chemical practices for control of PVY vectors.

In this study, I have found that it can help me determine the aphid species. It also gives

me more understanding on the research experimentation.

Jones, R.A. (2001) Developing Integrated Disease Management Strategies Against Non-

persistently Aphid-borne Viruses: A Model Programme. Integrated Pest Management

Reviews 6, 15–46. https://doi.org/10.1023/A:1020494604184

According to Jones he stated that there is a need of developing a integrated disease

management strategies that is comprehensive and that can protect farmers from the

hardship that arises on the economy, the epidemics of non-persistently aphid-borne

viruses. The author emphasized to the farmers to transfer the strategies by following the

overall success of work. In this study the author reviews a model for future programmes

to use when developing strategies for the combinations of non-persistently aphid-borne

viruses and crops. Also, in this study the authors’ strategy developed designs that cause

additional labor demands, and minimal disruption to the farming operations. This study

helps me on evaluating the virus resistance and experiments on the individual control

treatments.

Nzanza and Mashela assess the effects of fermented plant extracts of neem leaf and wild

garlic on whitefly and aphid population. The author also stated that whitefly and aphid

are important insect pest that are difficult to manage because of their resistance to some

of chemical pesticides. In the experimentation both insect pest showed different patterns

with higher counts on the observation during summer than winter. In this study show

that the neem and wild garlic being mixed is more effective in reducing the populations

of whitefly and aphids than the other plant extracts alone. With this study it will be able

to help me on controlling the population of the aphids-borne diseases and this also help

me on improving my understanding on experimenting in this field.

their vectored diseases on seed potatoes in Kenya using synthetic insecticides,

mineral oil and plant extract. 4(2):1-5 http://erepository.uonbi.ac.ke

According to the study of Olubayo and the others each season the numbers of aphids in a

five randomly selected plant was recorded in situ. It is also showed in here that the three

aphids species Aphis gossypii (Glover), Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas) and Myzus

persicae (Sulzer), A. gossypii being the most dominant while M. persicae was the least

dominant. In this study it highlighted, that synthetic insecticides were the most effective

insecticides among the treatment in reducing aphids’ infestation while the need and

mineral oil having no significant difference. It is also stated that the combination of

synthetic insecticides and mineral oil could also be a better treatment in reducing the

infestation of the aphids. This study helps me a lot in managing of the aphids-borne

diseases. This improves my understanding on how I will manage my current

experimentation leading to results to my study.
