According to Mabala and others, (2019) To be able to help in adapting to the work
environment nurses require opportunities to develop their confidence by giving them time to
practice independently. Also, according to Willman, (2020). In order to advance and enhance
their professional development they must devote more time to learn, relate, reflect, apply, and
train more to practice critical thinking skills.
Theoretical Framework
For our theoretical framework, the researchers used Sister Callista Roy’s Adaptation
Model of Nursing. Sister Callista Roy’s Adaptation Model focuses on changes endured by
human beings as they respond to environmental stimulants to maintain their integrity. The
objective of Roy’s Adaptation Model is to create an intertwined position of adaptation for
individuals and groups that can advance their well-being.
Instrument
The study used an adapted questionnaire from “The Experience of Transition from
Nursing Student to Newly Graduated Registered Nurses in Singapore” by Woo, M. and
Newman S., (2019) as its major data gathering instrument. The questionnaire is composed of a
list of closed-ended questions. Moreover, the adapted and modified questionnaire of the study
has underwent a reliability test before proceeding to an actual output.
Results and Discussion (Situational Responses)
Trying to make an effort through exposing myself in different cases/procedure to improve
my capabilities and skills is the statement ranked the highest by the respondents. The
respondents have recognized the importance of practicing and experiencing different situations
that will increase their competency.
Summary
On the other hand, the 2nd to the highest is the situational responses based on how the
respondents adjust and adapt to work field. It has a computed mean of 3.37 which was
interpreted as agree. The accumulation of all the experiences within a short amount of time
helped them to manifest their self-confidence and be competent in the field.
