Build office staff who are familiar with the company’s range of
products and services. The data collected will then be given to the
sales and marketing team. This data is to be collected using two
documents that have been used in previous projects, Customer
Data Collection, and Team Member Data Collection.

Tradespeople:
Several of Boutique Build’s tradespeople will build a kitchen in the
congress stand, using some new material and new designs from
our architects. It will be vital that the tradespeople building the
kitchen are able to speak with members of the public (and other
tradespeople) to describe the work they do. As the stand will be
quite small, a maximum of two tradespeople will be able to work on
the kitchen at a time. It has been estimated that two tradespeople
can build the kitchen in about 18 hours.

Human resource
1. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
management methods,
techniques and tools The WBS can be an important document for determining the required
project personnel.
Describe at least two
methods, techniques or A WBS includes:
tools that could be • defines the total scope of the project
appropriate in this
scenario. • a breakdown of work to be carried out by the project team
The WBS will include all of the tasks for a project and will therefore make
it easy to see human resources requirements relevant to each task.
2. Allocation of personnel
• Firstly, the project manager will need to determine the number
of people and skills required for the overall project.

• Secondly, they will need to analyse the skill set of available

staffing resources. Before allocating any members of staff to a
project task, a manager will need to undertake an analysis of
their skills and competencies in order to determine which
personnel would be suitable to undertake which tasks.
• A skill analysis matrix is a tool that can be used to ascertain the
skill level of personnel before assigning tasks. This can be as
simple as allocating the task to the person and then giving a
rating for the skill level.
3. Communication skill
• Ensure that everyone is clear about his or her responsibilities
and how their performance will be measured. It needs to be
defined and documented and then communicated accordingly.
• Some negotiation may be required with regard to a team
member’s job description, level of responsibility and
remuneration.
• Developing, documenting and communicating of roles on a
project will ensure all team members are fully aware of their
responsibility, role and commitment. Commented [RA2]: Student has appropriate approach on
planning for the required tasks and about the desired
outcome.

used to describe the practice that drives decisions about performance,
remuneration, promotions, disciplinary procedures, terminations,
transfers and development needs within an organisation. Effective
performance management measures the progress being made towards
the achievement of the organisation's business objectives. It does so by
planning, establishing, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating
organisational, functional, team and individual performance. Holistically,
performance management may incorporate job design, recruitment and
selection, training and development, disciplinary procedures and
counselling, career planning, compensation and benefits and
performance appraisals.
