Emergency Procedures FIRE – If minor, immediately sound alarm and alert all those present within
the premises and tackle same with on site fire extinguishers. Call 911 if
not brought under immediate control. If major, evacuate building and call
911. Report in accident book and . Notify H&S Officer to
investigate. ACCIDENT – Report immediately to site supervisor. Action to
be taken as per company Health and Safety Policy.

Sequence of work 1. Set out area where brick work is to be done


2. Setup profiles
3. Get bricks from laydown area with Teleporter
4. Move bricks on pallets as low as possible to the ground
5. Ensure bricks are secured and cannot fall off pallets while moving
6. Set down at area where work is to be performed
7 Mix mortar as per design specification
8 Lay bricks according to drawing , eg stretcher bonds, soldier course etc

9. If brick work is to be done from scaffolds to be built according to SANS 10085 area to
be barricaded
10. Engineer and foreman to tell scaffold erectors what scaffolds are required
11. All loading platforms to have extra supports to carry extra weight of bricks
12. Teleporter must place outriggers before any attempt is made to lift load to loading
platform
13. Hand rail will be removed from loading platform for access for pallets of bricks and
mortar after load is placed handrail will be replaced
14. Bricks then gets taken on working platform and stacked from ledgers 8 bricks in width
and 6 bricks high to ensure the weight is evenly distributed
15. All brick layers will have lanyards on tools to prevent them from falling from elevated
height
16. All bricklayers will be attached by means of a double lanyard safety harness whilst
working
