CAMPING SAFETY TIPS

Fire Prevention Tips

Camping can be a wonderful outdoor experience, but it's important to take precautions to
prevent wildfires and ensure the safety of yourself and others. Here are some tips on fire
prevention during camping:

◦ Clear the Area: Ensure the area around the fire pit is clear of any dry grass, leaves, or debris that
could catch fire. Remove any flammable materials from the immediate vicinity, including
overhanging branches or low-hanging vegetation.

◦ Maintain a Safe Distance: Keep a safe distance between your tent, camping gear, and the fire.
Sparks and embers can travel, so it's important to position your tent and other belongings away
from the fire's reach.

◦ Keep Water and Fire Extinguishers Nearby: Always have a source of water nearby, such as a
bucket or a hose, to extinguish the fire if needed. Additionally, keep a fire extinguisher handy at
your campsite for emergencies.

◦ E
◦ Never Leave Fires Unattended: Never leave a cooking-fire unattended, even for a short period.
f
Always assign someone to be responsible for the fire until it is fully extinguished.
s
a
◦ Extinguish Fires Completely: When you're done with the cooking, make sure to extinguish it
completely. Pour water on the fire, stir the ashes with a stick or shovel, and continue adding water
◦ G
until the fire is completely out. The ashes should be cool to the touch before you leave the site.
w
b
◦ Be Mindful of Weather Conditions: Be aware of weather conditions, especially during dry and
f
windy periods. Strong winds can quickly spread embers and flames, so exercise caution and
consider postponing or relocating your campfire if conditions are unfavorable.
◦ C
f
◦ Consider Alternatives: If fire conditions are risky or fire bans are in place, consider alternative
t
methods for cooking and staying warm, such as using a camping stove or bringing warm clothing
and sleeping bags.
◦ U
d
◦ Educate Yourself: Familiarize yourself with the fire and safety guidelines as soon as you arrive
n
through the Security department.

◦ Please Report to Security: If you observe a fellow camper disregarding fire safety protocols,
promptly report the matter to the Security Department.

CAMPING SAFET Y TIPS

◦ Do not use candles as a source of lightining.

◦ Do not leave gas stoves unattended.
◦ Campers should ensure their groups are equipped with a minimum of two fire extinguishers.
Please note that specific extinguishers are designated for gas fires and others for different fire
types.
◦ Do not initiate a cooking fire in close proximity to vehicles, generators, and other potentially
flammable equipment.
◦ When boiling water, exercise diligence in ensuring that the container is securely positioned to
prevent spillage.
◦ Do not keep generator fuel containers close to the Camping Tents (maintain a minimum distance
of at least 5 meters, as most camping tents are highly flammable).
◦ Do not refuel a generator while it’s operational.
◦ Do not leave fuel containers unsealed.
