workers and increase producticity.

B. Analysis : Equip, Inc., is facing a decrease in productivity because it has a labour

shortage. Many jobs are unfilled and several employees are leaving the company
to go to work for competitors.

II. Suggestions of Possible Solutions

A. Tom Jacobson could sell Equip

B. Tom Jacobson could purchase robots and computers to take the place of certain
employees to de-skill jobs through automation.
C. Tom Jacobson could offer flexible work arrangements and training programs to
the employees at Equip.

III. Evaluation of Possible Solutions

A. Tom Jacobson could sell Equip.

1. Adventages : No more business worries for Tom.

2. Disadventages : Poor time to sell may lose money.

B. Tom Jacobson could purchase robots and computers to take the place of certain
employees to de-skill jobs through automation.

1. Adventages : Possible solution to labor shortage and productivity decrease.

2. Disadventages : Great expense, technology become quickly absolute and the

worker’s skill would be down graded.

C. Tom Jacobson could offer flexible work arrangements and training programs to
the employees at Equip.

1. Adventages : Ability to recruit, develop, motivate and keep works and

upgrade ro diversity their Equip.

2. Disadventages : Need for recructuring of personal policies and replacement

of personal director (which may not be a disadventages).
IV. Selection of Solution

A. Choice : Tom Jacobson and should offer the employees flexible work
arragements at Equip (flexi time, job-sharing, part-time job, family leaves,
sabbaticals, child care) and training in basic skills.

B. Justification : Equip will have to match the current work option offered by other
companies if it wishes to remain competitive as an employer in the area. These
job options will enable/Equip to increase productivity will there for be cost
effective. In addition, Equip can train is employees so they are multiskills and can
adapt to new condition and technology, which will increase productivity.
