BAMBANG PAMUNGKAS

For Jakmania, the name Bambang Pamungkas is a role model. Both on and off the field.
When grazing, the man who is usually called Bepe is always a role model. It is for bidden for
him to protest too loudly, or lunge on purpose and try to injure his opponent. He is an
example for footballers who want to learn how real sportsmanship is. Starting from his
childhood dream of becoming a footballer, Bepe did not just become a dreamer. He tried to
forge himself by training hard to join various Football Schools (SSB) since he was eight years
old. Not in vain, this routine exercise made him stand out on the football field even from a
young age. Not easily complacent, little Bepe continued to train hard which led him to
various tournaments when he was a teenager. Indeed, at first it was not as smooth as
imagined, but the struggle continued for a goal. Namely going beyond himself and realizing
his dream of becoming one of the professional footballers who can defend his team in his
own country. Even though he was born in Central Java, Bambang Pamungkas' career grew
up in Jakarta. Armed with the top scorer in the U-19 Asian Cup tournament with a score of
seven goals, in 1999, Bepe also wore an orange jersey with the jersey number 20, his
favorite. One of Bambang Pamungkas' strengths is his very high jump. It is because of this
ability that he is able to score goals with headers. Even though his height is only 170
centimeters. One of the moments that catapulted his name was when he defended the
Garuda national team in a friendly match against Lithuania. The match ended in a draw 2-2.
It is an achievement in itself for Indonesian football to be able to hold off a team from the
plains of Europe, and Bepe is one of the goalscorers. It is not surprising then that several
trial offers have sprung up from European clubs. Starting from the Netherlands, namely
Roda JC Kerkrade, as well as German clubs, FC Koln and Borussia Monchengladbach. But
eventually Bepe played with EHC Norad, a Dutch third division club. Another foreign career
that Bepe had was when he defended the flag of Selangor FC, Malaysia. He even scored a
goal on his debut against Malaka FC. While in the neighboring country, the achievements of
this man with a thin mustache were the Malaysia FA Cup, Malaysia Cup, Malaysia Premier
League, and successfully scored 63 goals in various official matches. Two years in Malaysia,
Bepe decided to return home alone. The choice again fell to Persija. Together with the
Kemayoran Tigers, Bambang Pamungkas won various trophies, starting from the top scorer
in the 1999-2000 season, the Best Player and Champion of the 2001 Indonesian League
Main Division, the 2002 Tiger Cup top scorer, and the 2007 Copa Indonesia Best Player. Full
of achievements and titles, Bambang Pamungkas remains a wise and modest figure. Even
now, he remains loyal to defend the team that raised him, Persija Jakarta. His heroic actions
on the gridiron while defending Persija and the national team made his fans love this figure
even more. All struggles do not end in vain. Slowly but surely, Bepe started to become a
legend in his own country.

The story of Bambang Pamungkas can be an inspiration to anyone if it takes a long effort to
achieve a dream, but there is always a result that can be achieved. Now is the time for you
to dare to take steps to make your dreams come true
