WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS SHOOTING INCIDENT

On Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:41 PM, Warrensville Heights Police responded to a domestic disturbance
on the 19700 block of Sunset Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim, Amanda Williams, with
gunshot wounds. Warrensville Heights Rescue responded and transported the female to South Pointe
Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. A male suspect, Tirrell Edwards, was detained by Warrensville
Heights Police, at that time, and was transported to the Warrensville Heights Police Station for further
questioning.

In light of the felony nature of this case, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office upon review of the
preliminary information would recommend whether there is sufficient evidence to file charges for a felony
indictment. On Wednesday October 11, 2023, after initial review of the preliminary evidence, the Cuyahoga
County Prosecutor’s Office determined that there was insufficient evidence to charge the suspect at this time.

Legal requirements dictate that individuals detained for 48 hours must either face charges or be released. As
of October 11, Tirrell Edwards has been released from custody. Although the suspect has been released at this
time, this investigation remains open and active between the Warrensville Heights Police Department and the
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. ####
