Measurement data error

□ Check CT / PT / ZCT / GPT rating value as well as secondary voltage / current ratings.
□ Using portable instrument (Multimeter, Hookmeter), compare CT / PT / ZCT / GPT
secondary rating value and HIMAP-BCS input value.
□ When inversed phase-sequence voltage occurs more than 10% from the nominal value,
measure the phase voltage and check the outage.
□ When inversed phase-sequence current occurs more than 10% from the nominal value,
measure the phase current and check the outage.
□ When zero phase-sequence voltage / current occurs, check the wiring and the outage.
□ The values can be measured incorrectly because of influence by wrong phase rotation
sequence, phase open and fuse burning.
□ In the case of current measurement, actual load below 5% of CT capacity brings
incorrect measured result (same to KW, KVAR and PF).
□ HIMAP-BCS performs protection and measurement functions based on fundamental
wave components except harmonic components.
□ Therefore, the measurement value and protection may not correspondent with other
relays which is not.

Alarm data error on the power monitoring system (SCADA)

□ HIMAP-BCS input contacts are easily defined by user and provide flexibility.
□ Normally, Digital input no.48(CB1 ON), 49(CB1 OFF), 46(CB2 ON), 47(CB2 OFF)
related to no.50(Com) and fixed use only.

12
□ Digital input 31-34(Spare), 36-39(Spare), 42-44(Spare) related to no.35, 40 and
45(Com).
□ Digital contact input uses dry contact, unpowered contact.
□ If the system does not recognize input signals, short the terminal between (31-34) ↔35,
(36-39)↔40, (41-44)↔45, (46-49) ↔50, and then find out if the fault is in HIMAP-BCS
itself.
□ For the check and confirm the digital input of HIMAP-BCS, you may use local setting
menu on HIMAP-BCS LCD, (F2)→Status View→In / Output Status, then displayed
present status of input and output use.
□ In the case of communication error, check the matching between defined application of
input contacts and TAG of single diagram.

Relay output error

Input value: Input the A-phase current to Primary and Secondary respectively, for convenience
of calculation.
Primary A-phase current: 1A Secondary A-phase current: 8A
Primary B-phase current: 0A Secondary B-phase current: 0A
Primary C-phase current: 0A Secondary C-phase current: 0A

<Description>
① Because of differ from Primary setting current and Secondary setting current, it is needed
‘Scale Factor’ for regulate a balance.
Scale factor = Secondary current setting /Primary current setting = 1 / 0.5 = 2.0
② For the purpose of calculate Differential current between inputted Primary and Secondary
current, in the first place multiply Primary input current by Scale factor, and then, subtract
Secondary input current from that result. If Primary input current is 2A, and Secondary input
current is 4A, then,
Differential = Primary input current * Scale factor – Secondary input current
= 2A * 2.0 - 4A = 0

③ The Primary and Secondary input current is 1.8A respectively, Id (Differential ration)
and Ir (Restraining current ratio) results as follows,
Differential = 1A * 2.0 - 8A = 6A
Id = Differential / Secondary setting current = 6A/1A = 600%
Ir = Secondary input current / Secondary setting current = 8A/1A = 800%

50
④ Regarding above graph, Instantaneous Mode should be operate while “Instantaneous
Differential Operation Area” covers Instantaneous operation point.

5) Percent mode
: Percent mode represents operation mode using various curves (from Min.Pickup Ratio, Knee
point1, Slope1, Knee point2, Slope2) from 87T characteristic graph.
: Support Instantaneous / Definite time mode
: If not used, Min.Pickup Ratio set to 0.

(Example of Percent mode)

Setting value: Primary Current: 0.5A
Secondary Current: 1A
Transformer Type: Yy0 (Select the simplest case for convenience of calculation)
Zero Compensation: Disable

51
Mode: Definite
Delay Time: 2.5sec
Min.Pickup Ratio: 100%
Knee Point 1: 100%
Slope 1: 50%
Knee Point 2: 400%
Slope 2: 100%
2nd Harmonic Content: 0% (Set to 0 for convenience)

Input value: Input the A-phase current to Primary and Secondary respectively, for convenience
of calculation.

Primary A-phase current: 2A Secondary A-phase current: 2A

Primary B-phase current: 0A Secondary B-phase current: 0A
Primary C-phase current: 0A Secondary C-phase current: 0A

<Description>
① The Primary and Secondary input current is 1.8A respectively, Differential current value
results as follows,
Differential = Primary input current * Scale factor – Secondary input current
= 2A * 2.0 - 2A = 2A

② Id (Differential ratio) and Ir (Restraining current ratio) results as follows,

Id = Differential / Secondary setting current = 2A/1A = 200%
Ir = Secondary input current / Secondary setting current = 2A/1A = 200%

52
③ Regarding above graph, Percent Mode should be operate while “Percent Differential
Operation Area” covers Percent mode operation point.

Note: Both of two modes will operate while Instantaneous mode and percent mode were
activated at same time, and also operation points were located simultaneously.

6) 2nd Harmonic Content

: Support only for Percent Mode.
: The large exciting inrush current (contains plenty of 2nd harmonics) occurs at the Primary
side of transformer while power closing operation to no-load transformer. This current
occurs only at the Primary side not for Secondary side, acting as transformer fault status.
To device a measure is control and adjust that detect 2nd harmonics from transformer’s
Primary and Secondary current.
: In the case of relative harmonic factor of Primary and Secondary current larger than setting
values, that control and adjust should be operated.
: If not used this mode, set to 0.

Phase-G 4∠30° [A] As this input becomes inputted

current Ig as below,
Ig = 3.464 + j2

55
<Description>
① Because of differ from Phase setting current and Ground setting current, it is needed ‘Scale
Factor’ for regulate a balance.
Scale factor = Ground current setting / Phase current setting = 2 / 1 = 2.0
② For the purpose of calculate Differential current between 3Io and Ig, in the first place
multiply 3Io by Scale factor, and then, subtract Ig from that result.
Differential = |(Scale_factor*3Io) – Ig| (vector sum)
= (2*(-4.402+ j0.376)) – (3.464 + j2) = -12.268-j1.249
= sqrt((-12.268)^2+(-1.249)^2) = 12.331[A]
③ Using calculated Differential value and Input value, extracts Id[%](Differential current
ratio), Ir[%](Retraining current ratio) and mark on the graph,
Differential = 12.331[A]
Id[%] = 3Io and Ig, differential current / Ig setting current = 12.331/2 ≒ 6.166
= 616.6[%]
Ir[%] = Ig input current / Ig setting current = 4/2 = 2 = 200[%]

Ig = 5.657 + j5.657
<Description>
① Calculate Differential current in the same way of Instantaneous mode,
