Algeria manager reveals whether

he would welcome Benzema to the
team

Djamel Belmadi heard the reports about Karim

wanting to change the national team.

The manager has reacted to the rumours, saying

he's happy with his current players.

Benzema is said to be looking to stick it to the

France team for basically announcing his
retirement.

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi has commented on

the recent reports linking Karim Benzema with his
national team squad. The Frenchman has been
denied by his own country for years now and the
latest words by French FA have angered the striker
so much he opted to release him from the team and
let him join another.

However, Algeria might not be the most welcoming

team with Belmadi being pretty negative on the idea.
The manager is not jumping at the chance to play
Benzema: "I have Bounedjah, Slimani, Delort,
Soudani and I'm happy with the players I have."

Article 18 of FIFA Statutes makes it pretty clear the

underMre French striker will have literally no chances
to reject his current citizenship:

"Any player who has already participated in a match

(either in full or in part) in an oPcial competition of
any category or any type of football for one
association may not play in an international match
for a representative team of another association."

Moreover, Benzema doesn't have dual citizenship -

Algeria and France and will most likely have to
change his passport and citizenship for starters and
then request FIFA to allow him to represent Algeria.
