TNHS identified hazard through ranking and prioritization analysis


using the Probability scale for planners, the number one or top hazard/risk
identified by the school is Earthquake/Ground Shaking where impact is 4-very
likely and probability is 5-Almost certain (Table 1). This is closely followed by
tropical cyclone and Fire.

One of the participatory tools used in Hazard Identification is the


Probability Scale for Planners. The probability and impact rate are also
divided into 5 categories namely: Most Unlikely (score=1), Unlikely
(score=2), Likely (score=3), Usually (score=4) and Almost Certain
(score=5).
The participants rated the incidence of Earthquake/Ground Shaking in
school as top-priority hazard with an average of 4.5 which means that the
hazard (Earthquake/Ground Shaking) is likely to occur in the barangay at
least thrice a year.
