PALANGAN- a Tausug vocal music. It can be a narrative and a lyrical song. Narrative song- tells a story of an epic legend called “ Kissa”. Lyrical song- tells about lugu and paggabang. It consists of the following songs: a. Langan bata-bata- it is a children song. b. Baat- an occupational song. c. Baat calaw- a funeral song. d. Pangantin- a wedding song. LUGU- is a religious chant done by women in Mindanao. It is performed during rituals. Paggunting- a traditional cutting of an infant boy’s hair during baptism. Paggabang- a song accompanied by gabbang or bamboo xylophone and violin. Vocal Music in Mindanao includes: 1. Sindil- a local version of Balagtasan which is usually done during weddings. 2.
