Target Grade for Literature

Based on my annotations and feedback on your paper, what do you think your strengths were?
What were you able to do successfully or at least attempt?

I think I did well in Q1, and I identified various relevant methods and I think I had a strong
understanding of the key ideas present in the poem.

Based on my annotations and feedback on your paper, what do you think your weaknesses were?
What do you feel you struggled with?

I don’t think I struggled but I think that I could have done better with structuring my Q1 of unseen
poetry because right now it is just a long stream of analysis, so I need to try linking analysis by the
idea rather than doing line by line analysis.

If you feel that there were major errors in this paper, were these a ‘one off’ occurrence or
something that you feel needs addressing?

I think the big one in this paper was that I didn’t leave myself enough time for Q2 and that meant
that lots of masks were locked off from access and I think I do need to do some work on timings.

How did you find the experience of the exam (eg. Stress, ability to focus, timings, proof-reading,
knowledge of the paper)

Personally, I found this papers timing harder than the language paper and with the language paper I
feel like I stuck to my timings better while I really struggled with the unseen poetry and timings
because I didn’t stick it.

If you had extra time, talk about how you used this and if this is something you will continue or
change.
What precise steps do you think you need to take to practice and improve? What resources will you
need for this?

 Work out better timings

 Read more poetry to get familiarised with different types of poem structures
 Complete an unseen poetry section in the English lit paper
 Make flashcards on structural and language techniques synonymous with poetry
