Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on
how to use this module. You also need to keep track of the
learners' progress while allowing them to manage their own
learning at home. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage
and assist the learners as they do the tasks included in the
module.
For the learner:
As a learner, you must learn to become responsible of your
own learning. Take time to read, understand, and perform the
different activities in the module.
As you go through the different activities of this module be
reminded of the following:
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s
on any part of the module. Use a separate sheet of paper
in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer Let Us Try before moving on to the
other activities.
3. Read the instructions carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and
checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are
done.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this
module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.

Welcome to module 3 on Active Recreation. I’d love to


discuss to you different ways to feel that you are not alone in this
time of pandemic; that you and your friends can still do together
meaningful activities while staying at home. I believe that today
you are excited to learn new things about how to do it.
In this module you will express a sense of purpose and
belongingness by participating in physical activity-related
community services and programs (PE10PF-Ib-h48). Specifically,
at the end of this module, you will be able to:
1. apply the things you have learned about sports into
another context.
2. design a multi-media advertisement promoting sports
3. promote sports as a means of achieving fitness in this point
of time

Active Sports and my friends

“Active lifestyle” encompasses the world of physical


activities that promote sports and other recreations to develop
physical fitness. Though, not all people are sportive but they
can choose other venues to become active. Sports activities
provide encouragement and support because of its social nature.
It enhances social skills and social networks with their peers
(Coalter, 2005).

As young people, it is fitting to develop leadership skills


through sports especially in your community. You have many
friends that can help you with your goals. As you can observe,
basketball and volleyball leagues led by purok or barangay youth
organizations are widespread nowadays and it bring so much
energy to the community. Young people like you bring life to your
respective barangays. Take its opportunity; participate and
organize sports activities in your community.

A. From your list, think of an activity/exercise that will
develop basic skills of your favorite sport. Example:

Active sports: Basketball

Basic skill: dribbling and shooting

Activity:

1. From a 5-meter point away from your goal/ring, dribble the


ball to the 3rd-m distance and make a shot

2. Take the first bounce and do the jump shoot once.

3. Take the ball and dribble back to the 5-meter point. Rest. Do it
again.

Since you are staying at home and cannot go out to play


with friends, you can do any of the following:
(A) For those who have cellular phones let us tap your virtual
community with activity A below.

(B) For those who have NO cellular phones, do activity B.
We can be creative nowadays while staying healthy, isn’t it?
A: with cell phone
1. Using your android phone and your social media
account, make a challenge to your friends including your
teachers.
2. Post your video doing three (3) combined basic skills of
your favorite sports. Example: dribbling, shooting,
passing. Do the combinations repeatedly, at least 3
times.
3. To make the video more creative, employ sound effects, or
download applications that can enhance your video to
make it more appealing.
4. Mention three (3) names of persons you want to
challenge.
B: without cell phone and no social media account
1. You will still do activity A but you need not record a video
neither use social media.
2. Instead of virtual community, you will ask family
members to do the task with you. You can also include
small children to do it. Give them simpler task than
adults, those that they can bear physically and
intellectually. It is best that they will appreciate active
sports even in their young age.
3. Remember you have to promote sports as a way leading
to achieve active lifestyle.
Award Scheme: (Optional). For virtual promotion: As a leader,
creativity is a way to lead. You can provide creative awards
for you best performer to draw more audience, followers and
participants.
1. You can make a poster with his/her profile picture
congratulating for doing the challenge correctly.
2. You can give 10 peso load for 1 best outfit winner.
3. Or you can take consolidated pictures congratulating
everyone for accepting the challenge and staying healthy.

For non-virtual: you can give them your support and
appreciation for doing the activity. For little children, you can
have lollipops for them c”,).

Let Us Remember

1. Active lifestyle means doing physical activity every day.


Those activities that gets you up and keeps you moving.
2. Active sports are physical activities that entail the use of
muscles in the body guided by rules, and most typically
involve competition. It also requires strategy and tactics to
meet goals.
3. Community: (1) a group of people living in the same place
or having a particular characteristics in common
(2) a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing
common attitudes, interests and goals

4. Leadership is the art of motivating people to act toward


achieving a common goal

1. Yes, active sports will lead a way to community belongingness and leadership
because it develops your social skills. Good social skills leverage your leadership
because good social skills are outcomes of good understanding about people and
their personality.

2. Old folks can do active sports. There are many activities, warm ups and exercises
that are less vigorous that suits their physical attributes, specifically considering
their fragile bones. Example: lessen the intensity, difficulty and time to spend
doing the activity.
