ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN REPORT (topical / special study)

TOPICAL / SPECIAL STUDY

A studio 6 project's architectural design report highlights a particular architectural topic. The
students have to do independent research on the topic of their choice and develop a
reasonable research approach before implementing it in a critical enquiry activity in a relevant
subject. The investigation of a certain issue is carried out through direct observation, content
analytic study, or knowledge generation from primary, secondary, or any sources. finally,
student need to write up the architectural topic of analysis as final report.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Each student must be supervised by a supervisor who is either an authority on the subject or
has a sufficient level of interest in and affiliation with it. Each student must do an independent,
supervised study involving content analysis or limited fieldwork related to their specific area of
interest, and then present the findings in a final written report (5000-6000 words or about 20
pages).

LEARNING OUTCOME

 Demonstrate understanding on cultural, historical and theories of architecture,

philosophical and contextual elements in various architectural scenarios and
community scale.
 Produce comprehensive solution to various types of practical problems in architecture
by performing appropriate analysis, investigation and design process.
 Use effective visual, verbal, and written communication media to communicate
convincing design solutions using appropriate architectural approaches.

COMMON SPECIAL TOPICS

Architectural Emphasize on engineering aspects of the building design and

engineering construction process. Multidiscipline engineering approach with focus
on architecture and design. Architecture engineering includes the
design of building systems including electrical. Lighting,
heating/ventilation/air conditioning and structural system.

Environmental Emphasize on the integration of architecture with the environment to

design / minimize impact of buildings by enhancing efficiency and moderation
sustainable design in the use in the use of materials, energy and development space.
Deals with design that incorporates ecologically sustainable energy
and waste systems. Energy efficiency, renewable energy, water
conservation, indoor air quality and use of appropriate technology.

General Prepares one for a professional career as a design specialist or a

architecture: general practitioner. Employs a range of methodologies, processes
design, theory, and philosophies, techniques and technologies.
