About the Role
We are seeking a High Voltage Battery System Engineer to join the business on a Permanent
basis, at our Crewe Campus (With hybrid working). Reporting to the Functional Manager the
High Voltage Battery System Engineer will develop, Integrate and validate the High Voltage
Battery for all relevant projects in line with the Bentley Product Emergence Process.

You will be responsible for Electrical System Integration and Sign off for High Voltage Battery
Systems, across all relevant PHEV and BEV projects at Bentley.
Responsibilities include:

 Working cross functionally within Electrical & Electronics, Whole Vehicle, and Motion
Engineering R&D departments, to deliver a battery that meets customer and vehicle
requirements
 Introducing and validating platform changes on Bentley projects as required
 Support part introductions, Technical changes, B-Releases, BMGs, K-Releases for High
Voltage Battery components and associated fixings
 Provide all relevant information on the High Voltage Battery to Production, Aftersales,
Logistics, Purchase and Project management
 Manage suppliers and coordinate with VW group High Voltage Battery and HV System
Engineers to deliver fully functional High Voltage systems for Bentley future vehicles.
 Deliver Functional Safety Documentation Sign Off for the High Voltage Energy
Management function (ENG 005 026)
 Deliver components to the vehicle following Golden Rules processes for the HV Battery;
including: documenting and tailoring the agreed deliverables & timing to deliver the
components, the support of creating approval (AES/BES) documentation in the SCD tool.
 Software functions and calibration sign off (including some aspect of HV Safety
functionality and HV start up/shutdown and failure mode validation).

About the Person


The successful applicant will be in an Engineering role, Ideally within the automotive Industry
with understanding of vehicle High Voltage Systems & HV Battery Design.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

 Understanding of HV Battery design, cell characteristics, and application to a vehicle


system.
 Experience with modelling and simulation for performance and ageing predictions
 Proficient with CAN, Flexray and LIN bus systems
 Good understanding of Vector Tools – CANape, CANoe, CANanalyser, INCA and Diagra
 Understanding of how to use Vehicle Diagnostic tools (ODIS, IDEX) to support root
cause investigation work
 Electronic/electrical fault finding and problem-solving
 Understanding of software development
 Experience of writing electronic system specifications
 Functional Safety and Golden Rules processes, including familiarity of supporting tools:
SCD, FAHST, CRETA Pilot, DMS
 Engineering Degree or relevant equivalent experience
 High Voltage training/qualification desirable
 German language skills would be advantageous
