Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) was established in 1991 under the KAA Act Cap 395
to provide facilitative infrastructure for aviation services in Kenya.
Guided by its mandate, the Authority is seeking to recruit competent and self-driven
persons to fill the underlisted positions.
a) Job Purpose
The Corporation Secretary/Chief Legal Officer provides legal advisory and support
services to the Board of Directors and Management of KAA. The role entails provision
of secretarial services, legal advice, ensuring statutory compliance and management of the
litigation function of the Authority.

ix. Ensuring ownership rights of all KAA assets and registration of title to all KAA
properties, together with safe custody thereof;
x. Carrying out legal audit on operations of the Authority including due diligence in
order to recommend improvement, feedback and compliance;
xi. Assisting the Board in carrying out the following:
a. Board induction and training;
b. Updating the Board and Committee charters;
c. Preparation of Board work plans;
d. Board evaluation;
e. Providing advice on corporate governance practices;
f. Governance audit; and
g. Implementation of the code of conduct and ethics.
xii. Maintaining and updating the register of conflicts of interest;
xiii. Ensuring that Board members are aware of all relevant laws affecting the
organization;
xiv. Ensuring that annual returns are promptly filed with the relevant authorities;
xv. Except in exceptional circumstances, ensuring that the Board and Committee
papers are circulated in advance of any meeting;
xvi. Advising on legal matters and manage the litigation function of the Authority;
xvii. Initiating development of legal strategies for management of disputes; and
xviii. Coordinating legal support in preparation of legal documents, contracts, leases and
other related documents.

2. GENERAL MANAGER, PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS (S9)

a) Job Purpose
The General Manager, Procurement & Logistics will be responsible for managing and
coordinating all aspects of procurement, inventory management and logistics. The
role entails ensuring value to the Authority by making sure procurement is timely and
based on value for money, quality, price and terms from suppliers that are fully
compliant to all relevant public procurement regulations and guidelines, the
Authority’s procurement policy, as well as consistent good commercial and
professional practice.

ix. Proficiency in IT with working experience gained in a highly automated ERP
environment
x. Practical working knowledge and competence with Supplier Relationship Management
(SRM) system and/or automated procurement system such SAP.
a) Job Purpose
The General Manager, Marketing & Business Development will be responsible for
developing and driving Marketing & Business Development strategies to enhance business
growth, improve brand and customer service in line with the Strategic Plan.

iii. Developing strategic partnerships with financial partners to support business
growth;
iv. Developing and maintaining financial accounting systems for revenues, expenses,
cash management, creditors, debtors, fixed assets, petty cash;
v. Formulating, implementing and maintaining accounting and administrative policies
and procedures and ensuring compliance thereto;
vi. Providing leadership in the development and review of the Authority’s medium
and long term strategies;
vii. Custodian of financial policies and processes and standard operating procedure
manuals;
viii. Establishing guidelines for budget preparation and prepare annual budget in
consultation with other departments;
ix. Overseeing the management of cash flows and preparation of cash flow forecasts;
x. Executing, reporting and reviewing processes and ensuring preparation of monthly
and quarterly financial statements and annual accounts in line with International
Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
xi. Identifying and implementing efficient cost control strategies;
xii. Formulating and implementing sound investment policies;
xiii. Ensuring timely updating of Finance Division’s Risk Register;
xiv. Facilitating external (statutory) and internal audits;
xv. Ensuring performance measures are designed to evaluate performance against the
strategic plan;
xvi. Overseeing the implementation of recommendations of audit (external and
internal), risk and compliance and other investigations;
xvii. Setting performance expectations and conducting performance management
evaluations in a timely manner to ensure superior levels of performance are
maintained; and
xviii. Developing and maintaining timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual
financial statements.

5. MANAGER, AIRPORT OPERATIONS (S8)

a) Job Purpose
Manager, Airport Operations will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, coordinating
and overseeing the daily airport operations, as well as ensuring the airport complies with
aviation regulations and procedures.

b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled wildlife risk assessments in accordance
to relevant ICAO and Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) in aviation and
use the information to develop and review wildlife hazard management plans;
ii. Carrying out research for understanding wildlife changing / emerging trends and
management technologies that are used for implementable and manageable effective
innovative airport wildlife control technique;
iii. Developing and maintaining databases, analysing data and synthesizing the information
from all airports for organization’s management decision making;
iv. Developing curricula and implementing training programs for staff and stakeholders
to ensure continuous capacity development;
v. Providing guidance regarding the creation of aviation wildlife control related policies
and legislation;
vi. Advising management on bio-physical management to ensure strategic management
of the environment in order to control bird and wildlife presence in the airports;
vii. Liaising with all government departments, aviation wildlife/safety committees and
other organizations which impact on the presence of birds/ wildlife in and around the
airports to ensure their involvement in the effective airports wildlife control
strategies; and
viii. Working with safety manager and other bodies/ departments on compliance with
international and national safety and environmental standards on birds/ wildlife
hazards.
Key Qualifications and Experience
i. Bachelors degree in Ornithology / Wildlife Management / Environment / Flight
Safety / animal science or related field or equivalent qualification
ii. Statistical and Geographical Information System (GIS) training
iii. Instructor training in aviation wildlife control will be an added advantage
iv. At least 8 years of experience with at least 3 years of managerial/supervisory
experience.
c) Skills and Competencies
Teamwork, good communication, interpersonal, supervisory and analytical skills.

v. Liaising with the aviation related bilateral, multilateral partners and regulatory
bodies in respect to training programs;
vi. Developing training plans for regulatory and statutory programs in collaboration
with the users;
vii. Formulating and monitoring the corporate training budget for all the identified
employee development needs to ensure adequate funding;
viii. Coordinating the implementation of the HR development plan;

ensure that they meet set objectives;
x. Coordinating implementation coaching and mentoring programs in the Authority;
xi. Generating staff development reports for decision making;
xii. Developing need based in-house training programs and facilitates their delivery;
xiii. Working with line managers in developing and implementing career and succession
plans;
xiv. Working with line managers to develop and implement staff induction programs;
xv. Developing and managing in consultation with function heads, e-programs and co-
ordinates learning centres’ activities; and
xvi. Managing and coordinating internship programmes for students.

inspection of the property on quarterly basis to ensure proper management
and maintenance by the Property Manager;
vii. Overseeing the internal administration of the staff pension schemes and post-
retirement medical fund in order to enable the beneficiaries of the schemes get
their benefits as provided for in the Trust Deed and Rules;
viii. Assisting the Board of Trustees and the Administrator in identifying the rightful
beneficiaries and obtaining the required documents from the
claimants/beneficiaries and submitting the same for payment of benefits as
appropriate;
ix. Making a follow up on implementation of the Board of Trustees resolutions;
x. Providing necessary awareness to the members of the Fund by organizing for
members’ education fora and post retirement seminars for prospective
retirees;
xi. Organising members Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and ensuring that
Annual Financial Statements are accurately prepared and circulated to
members on time;
xii. Ensuring the schemes are managed in accordance to the Trust Deed and Rules;
and
xiii. Ensuring full compliance of all the legislative requirements by the Schemes.

b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Liaising with the Airport Manager and General Manager, Projects & Engineering
Services on identification of technical projects at the airport level for purposes of
planning and budgeting to ensure incorporation in the future airport development
plans;
ii. Liaising with external service providers (KPLC, Nairobi Water & Sewerage Co.
and International manufacturers of specialized airport equipment;
iii. Motivating and nurturing the department to achieve excellence in capability to
achieve overall objectives;
iv. Ensuring reporting on work done into the reporting structures in the Institution
on a monthly; quarterly or annual basis;
v. Take responsibility for the reports emerging from the division and all
documentation sent to the Head of Department.
vi. Overseeing division’s budgeting, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, cash
flow and debt management;
vii. Providing administrative leadership in the management of engineering works and
services to a team of technical personnel through regular meetings and briefs to
ensure the daily activities are well planned and implemented;
viii. Developing and implementing a dynamic preventive maintenance and monitoring
schedule for all Engineering activities and services with direct supervision of the
various sections (Mechanical, electronics, electrical, building and civil);
ix. Preparing of specifications and tender documents for all the engineering works at
the airport to ensure timely procurement and subsequent delivery of the required
services and goods in liaison with the General Manager Projects and Engineering
Services and Manager Procurement;
x. Developing the airport annual engineering services budget in liaison with the
airport technical team and manage the implementation of the approved budget to
ensure that approved limits are not exceeded and that planned works and services
are carried out in a timely manner, efficiently and cost effectively;
xi. Participating in cross-functional and departmental team meetings in order to
provide technical advice on all engineering services; and
xii. Overseeing the smooth running of various technical workshops (Mechanical,
electrical, electronics) to ensure they are well maintained all the time.

20.BIRD SCOUT TRAINEE
(TWENTY-ONE (21) VACANCIES)

a) Job Purpose
The job holder will be responsible for the control of birds and other wildlife species
within and around the airports and airstrips.

ii. Controlling passengers and other airport user’s access to the airside, restricted
and controlled areas to determine whether they have been authorized through
use of security pass and travel documents;
iii. Facilitating passengers and Airport workers through security access entry points;
iv. Conducting standard screening and access control at gates and doors leading to
the airside;
v. Safeguarding airport facilities against unlawful interference
vi. Conducting patrols both on foot and vehicular on a 24-hour basis;
vii. Scrutinizing passenger travel documents and Airport passes at access points to
ensure their validity;
